TurboXS Tuner (Tuna) Install Questions
I thought the voltage is for the output only? Do you have an external gauge with the tuner?
yes it is lame but the Tuner boot up in less than 20 second so if Utec need 20 seconds to initialize then the tuner will be in LaLa land coz it wont see the Utec. I have mine wired to the accessory so when I restart the car the Tuner get rebooted again... I only use the switch if I want to manually reboot the Tuner or want to turn it of for what ever reason. I have mine setup this way for almost 8 months with out a problem.. I know you fear about the constant restart but this is not your regular "Windows" that may get corrupt if it kept restarted. If this is the case then Utec should also go bad (I'm assuming Utec and Tuner use the same code/OS here) every time you restart the car, there are people here that is using Utec for years without a problem..

Yeah, it's for the output - I'm using an external gauge that I already have mounted in my gauge pod because the Tuner won't fit any place where I can see the display. I could take the top piece off of it and mount it in the cubby underneath my head unit, but it will probably look pretty ghetto. However, I might end up doing that so that I can get an accurate reading instead of being .3 off on the AFR. But again, if I have a carputer with UTI running, I won't need a gauge anywhere.
I think I'll run it off of ACC as well.
Thanks!

Search coz there is a thread about using an external gauge with the Tuner.. Not sure if Quadcam uses one but try him.. did you try to input number with decimal? In utec it also display hole number but I have my Open Loop Crossover to -.5psi and it work for me.
Alright, sweet - thanks a ton for the help! Got everything back together today and it's working. Wired up a switch that I mounted next to the hood release under the dash, and it's wired off of ACC. I also finally mounted my map selector switch to where the seat warmer switches would go so I can actually see it instead of guessing - it was next to the TCS switch before.
The output values can be set to one decimal point so 7.3 and 22.4 should work fine. I ended up using the Bosch sensor from my Innovate LC-1, so we'll see how accurate it seems to be when I drive to work tomorrow. Anyone looking for an LC-1?
Thanks again athenG, netshark, mw9, and whoever else. Hopefully I'm done with questions for a while.

Well you guys were right. After turning the ignition to ON, I unplugged the Tuner then plugged it back in, and it was connected to the UTEC. Quite lame. Would be nice if there was a built-in delay on the boot up of the unit.
So, here are my options - let me know what you think is best...
1.) Keep it wired to IGN but use a switch to turn it on right after I start the car.
2.) Wire it to ACC. Will turn on and start warmup, but then will shutoff for a second when cranking the car. Not sure this is the best. Plus, I would use to switch still to turn it off if I'm just listening to the stereo with the car off or something.
3.) Run a wire in from the fuel pump wire on the fuse block. Will then turn it on for a split second when IGN turns to ON, then will stay off until the car is started. Not sure if the quick on/off will be good for it.
I don't want to have to flip a switch every time I start the car, so maybe the fuel pump option is the best.

They still don't always synch up with each other 100% of the time for data logging (even though their boot sequence is correct). So I put an inline toggle switch to the TUNA to allow me to "reboot" it for those occasions without turning the car off/on.
But for non-data logging, they have always synched up fine... Except this one time I hit a nasty pothole, and the AFR the TUNA was displaying went a couple points too rich. I rebooted it, and it was fine after that. Lol~

Damn gothchick, that is pretty sweet!
I just ghetto rigged it and tossed it under the stereo behind the climate controls. Since I'm running an external gauge, I don't need to see it. But if I need to access it, I can just pull off the climate control / 6 speed surround to get to it.

Yeah, it seems to be right on. The whole thing seemed to be showing a bit leaner than what my Innovate was saying. I adjusted the temp correction again just to be on a safe side though. I still need to do a bunch of street runs and really nail out the AFR before I take it to a tuner. But I'll do that next Spring.
