ECU
You need not do anything if you don't want to. You may still experience some gains but not likely as much as you would with a re-flash but then what's the point unless you are going to add a few more items.
And no, you will not explode into a ball of flames. lol

Im sure many others can answer this better than I but I just installed a single pop on my rev-up like 6 hours ago and read that you should disconnect the negative before installing. This will cause the MAF to re-read when reconnected and prevent (hopefully) the stalling issue people are reporting. I don't think anything else is necessary.
Yes, 100% ball of flames.
Oh wait this isn't the FI forum.
You do not need to get your ECU reprogrammed for any modification. Will it help? yes. But then a good tune helps even on completely factory cars. If you're located near one of our Pro Tuners, http://www.uprev.com/dealers.php You can stop by and talk to them and they can give you plenty of details about it.

if you meant reflashing your ECU, then no.
When your ECU "Learns" your new mods, it is actually adjusting itself (its internal tables) so that your new mods run within the emissions parameters the ECU was designed to produce. That's never the best for performance.
Having your ECU reprogrammed (flashed) with something like Osiris on a dyno by a real Tuner makes quite a difference. Now your ECU "Learns" towards the performance settings the Tuner flashed onto the ECU.
