Default cobb tuning vs. osiris tuning

im really trying to get my car tuned soon and i dont know which dyno tune to go with. its about an hour and a half drive to mvp motorsports and ill have to leave my car with them for the day, but i have heard really good things about the osiris system. then again cobb is like 15 minutes from my house and i was told by a buddy of mine that they are the go to people. so i leave it to the opinion of you forum freaks (no offense) to help figure this out. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was going to go the direction of Cobb, but after much deliberation, I went ahead and got an Osiris. Haven't regretted it one bit. You should do the same, because not only is the product great, but the guys at Uprev are pretty awesome, too.

Osiris is way more adjustable compared to Cobb. Do your research.

MVP is the shop. They haven't signed up to be a Pro Tuner yet, they are still feeling their options out, but they have one of the best reputations in the industry. I know they are real interested in getting a car or two up there to check out how flexible our system is, so I know they'll probably spend more time on it than they should to make sure your car turns out right. Sounds like a win/win to me :-)

UpRev is exactly right on we plan to spend longer than average for this. Once we get accustomed to this system you should be able to come in, chill in the showroom while we tune your car, and leave same day. We just want to see what all this sytem is capable of prior to pulling the trigger and becoming an authorized Pro Tuner. UpRev has been kind enough to send a cable out to us in an effort to help us move in that direction.

Regards,
Robert

I think the choice here is obvious. I had Osiris on my '05 350z, definitely some great work coming out of UpRev.

OSIRIS FTMFW!

I wouldnt even consider Cobb for a Z. I know SO many people that bought that stupid thing and sold it 2 weeks later. It does nothing. Cobb AP is for STI's.

Uprev/Osiris/Cipher is a real tune from real people, not a pre-programmed gameboy. Also you get a copy of Cipher which pays for itself after the tune, its a complete diagnostic program for Nissan cars.

Also the people at Uprev are great, Rich, Randy and Jared. They will help you with just about anything and will answer all your questions. They are truly dedicated and passionate about Nissans and tuning.

My car runs SO hard now but its so smooth also. Not to mention they went above and beyond thru E-tunes trying to get my Nitrous dialed in just right. I now have 4 different maps on my car that I can switch in a milli-sec with my cruise control buttons at 150mph.

chalk up another vote for osirus....Dave at function tuned convinced me to make the switch from my utec to the osirus. I was hesitant at first but there were times where the utec would hesistate with my 3inch maf i have on the car. Low and behold he had the car pefectly smooth. The A/F was at a perfect and steady 13.0. The best part was we saw a 15+ hp gains over the utec which he tuned as well. The car is so smooth and drivability is like stock again. No sputtering or hesitation when the utec used to kick in. I couldnt be happier.

Yep, I'm another one who went from UTEC to Osiris [on an NA 350z]. It was worlds better than the UTEC.

Curious which MAF tube you have on your car.

Did it help?

I have the 3inch maf from z1auto. We definitely saw gains, Dave told me he had to add a lot of fuel to the tune with the maf. I'd say about 9-11hp was from the maf. I know aceman from the message boards saw gains of about 13hp and 12ft-lbs of torque but he also had a bored out throttle body. With your set-up I'd expect you to see even better gains than what aceman or I got.

Thanks for the info.

I have one of Z1's 3 inch MAF tubes, too. I'm waiting to go back for my next tune to swap it in.
