Utec help!!
I just installed my utec and my car is sounding like total GARBAGE. The slightest hit of the throttle makes the car sound like a helicopter. I did no modifications to the base map on the utech and have no idea how to get the programmer to work correctly, I've been sitting in my drive for 3 hours trying to figure this thing out. I just want to use the stock base map, Im not looking to get it super tuned or anything like that... Anyone know of what I can do to get back to the stock basemap on the utec?
Anyone have any ideas? it sounds like its stuttering and chugging at idle. Almost as if its not getting enough gas. I hooked the hyperterminal up and can acess the tuning part of the car but don't want to change anything without knowing what it does exactly.
k now I think its running too rich. looking for a good map to get a leaner afr.
I think its because Im running test pipes and my front o2 sensors are getting pounded because of this.

Is this new or used Utec? Do you have a wideband? You shouldn't try tuning without at least a WB. Here download the NA Map from turboxs (http://turboxs.com/utec350zupdate.ht) and that should be close enough.
Im pretty sure the utec was used at least once or twice, it was basically new though. I figured out what was wrong I just don't know how to fix it myself.
Basically I came to the conclusion that the "stock" setting wasnt working right because Im running ti-tek test pipes right now and my o2 sensors are getting a lot more air then normal, because of this the utec is trying to fix the AFR by dumping more gas into my carb...which is causing me to stutter. Sound viable?
Im gonna take it somewhere and get it checked out just because I dont really know too much when it comes to tuning.

I tried that and it was still stuttering. Even though it was on the "stock" map. I just unplugged my utec and replugged the stock ecu. Gonna try and take it somewhere once I get my exhaust and plenum installed.

Map 0 should have ran fine. Make sure you have the utec grounded good. Also try reset the ECU. I bet if your ground is good if you leave the utec hooked up and on map 0 and unplug the battery for the night it would be fine in the morning.

huh?
at the 0 map, the utec is doing nothing...your car is running on the same factory ecu it was running before you installed it
so, either you bought a bad utec, or you're not on the 0 map
your test pipes have nothing to do with it
gas into your carb?
if you want to tune it yourself, get the instructions and read them literally 2-3times before even plugging the unit in...and plan on referring back to them frequently if you make any changes.
