Stay with Utec or go with the Uprev
#22
I currently have the Utec and I was tuned, but I ended up losing the tune on my car for some reason supposedly the stock ECU was bumping heads, so now I am running on the stock map. I have some more mods I plan on adding to my car and wondering if I should stick with the Utec and get it retuned or should I sell it and go with the Osiris UpRev.
I really just want to go with what will bring the mods together and get the most power out of it. I also dont want to risk of losing the tune again either. I plan on staying N/A also.
Any suggestions???

Back on topic in your case i would go with Osiris this is the route I will be going with as well.

I gained a tenth of a second and 2mph in the 1/4 mile, just going from the UTEC to Osiris. Similar conditions and driving, just about the same mods. I didn't bother with dyno'ing after the switch.

Either is fine. Both work for NA and UPREv, but UPREV performs better. A few in this thread had UTEC before UPREV and they say go UPREV. That should tell you something. That is all I will say.

Drew after I bought my UTEC I contacted Jeremy@AAM and Dave@FT to see to get some info on tuning it and this is what they said:
For NA we shoudl just do the ECU flash. WAY better! And alot less expensive. More stable and smoother.
After getting those responces I sold my UTEC.

Let me know and we can take care of it.

1. What are your rates for tuning?
2. How long does it take to tune?
3. If I installed a UTEC tuned for another car will I hurt my car?
4. Do you reccomend me getting a map selector for an N/A tune?
Thanks.

/\ +1 for NA Osiris is really much better coz you are not using MAF Pulldown/Pullup which can create complication between the ECU and Utec. Our ECU is just to smart to be fooled. As you can see both of their response are pertaining to NA. Osiris also will work with FI but that really depend on your needs though coz both have Pros and Cons.

Yeah Dave Tuned my Utec also, but that was before he became an UpRev Tuner. I gotta make up my mind...

Disclaimer: I'm in no way at all saying anything bad about F:T or Dave's tuning, just saying utec isn't the better option in this application.

I had my car tuned with UpRev this last weekend. Asked SP after wards if it would have been better to go with UTEC. Vince the tuner said I would put UpRev on my own car way before UTEC. The comparison isn't even close. UpRev all the way!

Op, idon't understand 'losing a tune'. You might want to contact with tuner who tuned your Utec.
If you already have a Utec, i would do retune the utec. I don't know why you have to spend more money to get uprev at this point ( Even utec covers part of $) . If you are going to build motor in future or soon, i would think about spend more money and switch over or try something new. ( I'm not point at which is better or not, Both of them are good. )
Reflash, many tuner likes to do ECU reflash. It is great choice if you are N/A, but downside what if one day something happen with your ECU? your car will down for couple days to fix that ECU (send over to tuner and receive it back). if you don't care about that, reflash ECU is good choice as well. ( i'm assumming, if you sell your Utec you can make a money for reflash ECU.)
To be honest, Ems is just a program.
Just take it to good tuner, then you will be happy with either way you go.

I had my car dyno tuned @ Uprev and they did an awesome job. I noticed a huge improvement, and the guys down there really know what they are doing. My car is N/A with most of the bolt-ons.
I am looking into going FI now (Vortech) and am wondering if Osiris can handle a moderate FI setup like that. Guess I need to call them and find out...
