I have this one:

http://www.pivotracing.com/product/THR

It is hands down one of the best mods! And unlike the sprint booster you are able to toggle through desired settings with 7 different "sports"" and "economical" modes to choose from at the touch of a button.

Sounds pretty cool. Is this a good upgrade compared to other cars that get the bigger throttle body. I have read several threads how a bigger throttle body on the Z is pretty much useless.

Totally different deal goin on with those two parts..throttle booster...bigger throttle body.. our cars have "drive by wire" throttle/accelerator..meaning its all electronic, no cables or mechanical parts.. your gas pedal works off electrical signal which from the factory is weak as *****.. all this does is increase electrical signal so theres no delay in response of foot to pedal when you mash it.. you wont gain any hp or torque...none...just throttle response..

I think that would be worth it just have that instant response. I know you say it doesn't add hp, which I agree, but still it will feel better being so much more responsive.

Any more input or opinions? Is something like this hard to wire in? Any chance to really screw things up with this installed?

I'm not sure about these products. Heres why.

The unit installs behind the pedal, to the sensor in line with the ECU. Its taking the signal from the pedal and boosting it to trick the ECU into thinking the pedal is in a different position than it really is.

Now this isn't necessarily a bad thing but what is it actually doing for us? Is it adding anything? Faster throttle response yes, but how fast? Lets say it takes one second to go WOT. This thing would take the signal and "advance" it to a certain point depending on the setting. Lets say true pedal position is 50%, this thing would trick the ECU into thinking the pedal was actually 75% down. If we apply 75% pedal the thing tells the ECU its WOT right? We've lost 25% pedal travel for a decrease of twenty-five-hundredths of a second in "throttle response".

In all reality anyone here should be able to go WOT in less then a second thus the rule of diminishing returns applies. Is it worth the price?

The gas savings claim is interesting with the pivot system linked to above. It would be interesting to see if they are true or not. Maybe the OP can test it for us.

Nonetheless, I like the little gadget and it would be fun to tinker with. You can always turn it to normal and have full pedal control back which is good. I don't like the idea of less pedal control.

Cars like BMW use this idea in their cars. Push the "M" button and get faster throttle response and more power right? Well its not the same with this unit. The throttle is not being opened faster, only sooner relative to pedal position. This is evidenced by the placement of the unit, between pedal and ECU. Now, if it was between the ECU and the throttle servo it would be a different story. Then it would actually, physically be a more responsive throttle. Also keep in mind the "M' buttons change ECU maps, more aggressive timing, fuel, throttle response ect. all added together make it more enjoyable.

Moral of the story. Push the pedal faster and you will get the same results.

If thats how it really works that doesn't make it sound so great anymore. I heard with some of the tuning programs out there you can actually gain wide open throttle response the right way with out tricking anything.

this doesnt open your throttle bodies faster really, but, gives you that feeling back of a traditional cable set up. I'm old school so i like that feeling, so hitting the pedal even on slower accelerations ie: daily driving, 1 second lag for the computer to realize my pedal is at any given point and only then recognizing it...sucks. what you're doing is boosting the signal, thats all, there arent any ecu changes made or to be made...its like dropping an amp between your sub and radio..i just want the car to recognize where my pedal is exactly at the exact moment its there

Is it safe to use? Any chance of screwing up anything, if everything is installed properly?

from what i've read and reviews..doesnt appear to be..i wanted to hear from people who've installed them personally..im guessing no, only because it doesnt activate any acceleration..just amplify what you're doing with the pedal/foot yourself..not like a runaway toyota...

Most of the reflashers(Cobb, Uprev) Allow the adjustment of the stock throttle sensitivity.

When I was doing some research, every thread I read about throttle bodies said its useless going with a bigger throttle body, unless your getting huge hp numbers.

Here is just one I remember coming across. There are some reliable posters with comments I would trust.
