Default drive by wire question concerning haltech and pro efi

can haltech or the pro efi units recognize other DBW throttle bodies like the GM ls2 throttle bodies for example? if not what units can other than motec's?

thanks

Haltech cannot because it does not control the DBW in the first place, the stock ecu does that. Could it be done via a combination of rewiring the throttle body and an ecu reflash? Perhaps. That being said it would take quite a cam and manifold setup to even justify a 90mm throttle body on a V6 engine. Bigger is not automatically better, the engine has to need it.

Motec does, because it controls DBW. Not sure about the ProEFI

i know, most of my questions i have are because i plan to do a build someday down the road. so if i were to do something like this it would be because i have i have cams, exhaust, etc.

if anything the haltech and pro efi both can be used without drive by wire and run cable throttle bodies right? so running something like Holley's 90mm ls2 would work correct?

no, the proefi and haltech both need the stock ecu to run any DBW. its not in their software.

Vipec and Motec are only 2 options for what you want to do.

correct, again will require an accompanying ecu flash as well as modified pedal assembly (to use a cable), you will also lose traction control if the car is so equipped (not sure about VDC). You'll also then need to introduce an IAC (I've made due without one for a year now but its on the list to do) as well as TPS and return spring setup. None of this is impossible, or even all that hard, but it will be trial and error. You will also need to figure out what intake manifold you plan on bolting this 90mm throttle body to, since a stock 350Z one is nowhere near able to accept anywhere that large, nor is a Cosworth (just as an example), not to mention where to fit the throttle body in the first place (stock locatrion will not work, there is not enough room). A worthwhile (properly evaluated) custom intake manifold is going to be mega $$, though would be cool to work on. You'll also need to make your own intake

could that throttle body work? maybe, maybe not...alot goes into it as you can see.
