I believe you just tap a few wires for that. Probably 2 or 3 hours would be my guess.

Thanks, anyone have experience with installing this, or has had it done? How long did it take?

Get some nice wire crimpers, the kind that do the roll over crimp. It shouldn't take you more than an hour or two. It's actually pretty easy.

Or, skip the crimper and get some Posi-lock connectors and some Posi-tap wire taps. Those things are really cool. They make it really easy to install and un-install without tools.

www.posi-lock.com

I couldn't find the taps at the local auto parts store so you may have to order those off the internet.

That's what I would do. Good luck!

I would rather have someone to yell at when the cars electrical system malfunctions than f it up myself and have noone to blame but myself. Thats worth a couple hours laber to me.

I have installed a couple of these and I definitely recommend a solder job for the wire splice into the stock harness. You don't want them coming loose once you have everything tuned for power. A bad intermittent connection with a crimp connector and you're in trouble.

Z1 Performance does good work out on LI. SAFC install is about a 2-3 hour job.

You're not going to mess up any electric system... unless maybe you cross the speed sensor wire with the knock one!

If you don't trust yourself, certainly get a shop to do it... otherwise have faith!

Happy Turkey Day btw!

I beleive this is a matter of tapping a couple of wires on the ECU. As long as your are meticulous and triple check everything you should be okay. The posi-lock idea seems pretty cool. This should take about 1 - 2 hours max.

Zred,

Have you done any tuning to your car with the SAFC?

You definately want a soldered connection with the SAFC...it's an accidental waiting to happen using crimp connectors.

We charge $65 an hour for board members and are on LI if you need it done.

Install is about 2 hours on it, though it depends how complex of a mounting job you want for it.

save your $$, go for either an EM Ultimate if you don't mind splicing or a UTEC
