Default smog

so i bought a cobb handheld tuner for my 04 350z; bad idea i know but the nearest tuner shop for my z is an hour and a half away. Uploaded an off the shelf tune and took it straight to the smog shop after driving hard to heat up my HFC's.

Car failed miserably. The #'s are very high! i drove the car another 75 miles and i got the ecu to throw a code. Its running rich. Im tryin to find a cheap way to get this car to smog for now until i can get the money to retune.

Anyone have suggestions? Ive heard of putting rubbing alcohol or a paint remover that contains all methanol or somethin like that. What about e85 without a tune??

why on earth would you load that just before going to the smog shop?

just uninstall the map program back to OEM and clear the ecu w the cobb and try again.. lol.. it will tell you your air fuels etc on the cobb.

what did you fail for, sniffer?

well its a full bolt on car, if i take the tune off it will throw a code for being too lean i can clear the code but it still wont pass; and yes the sniffer.

im highly thinking about selling all the aftermarkets and going back to oem; im selling the care anyways.

You'll never pass a sniffer with aftermarket cats.

Not true - I have UR ceramic cats and currently running the cobb stage 2 tune and I passed inspection in NJ at the DMV, not a mechanic's shop.

It aint California but NJ is one of the stricter emissions states.

Looks like your going to have to slip the shop a couple $20's, or go back to OE cats
