Default Fried ECU

So apparently my ECU decided to fry itself and theres no stock for a new one so I'll be waiting 4-6weeks. Is there any aftermarket option available that completely removes the stock ECU or do all the stand alone systems still go through the OEM ECU?

You can just get another ecu from a junked car and disable NATs via uprev..

Haltech plug-n-play model replaces the OEM ecu completely. Just make sure whatever fried your ECU doesn't fry the next one too.

yeah but youre talkin $2,500 for a Haltech. Not worth it if he's just looking for a stock ECU and doesn't have extensive mods.

Ok first who diagnose the car?? Dealership or independent??? ECU is gonna be a costly repair due to the NATs programing much. Aalso good question to ask is what cause it to fired??? Cause if u don't fix what cause it to fry. Then ur New/use Ecu even the aftermarket Ecu will also fry again....more info from OP and other who were in the same situation help...just my .02 cent..

I would eventually love to boost so that's why i was wondering about a/m. I diagnosed it. Having said that I am a mechanic at a Nissan dealership. I have consult and can do all the programming for nats and reconfiguring of the new ecu if I do choose oem. I just don't see a lot of a/m so I was curious as to what is out there. I take it the haltech is the only "true" stand alone.

Haltech would personally be the best stand-alone ECU to buy. About $1500 cheaper than an HKS F-CON V PRO, and still fully tuneable through your own computer and recommended by majority of people.

Aww Nissan tech aswell I'm assume u fix the frying issue and just looking for info. I'm really not familiar with aftermarket ECU. Next step I would do is message some of the members here that do have aftermarket Ecu. see what the pros and cons with haltech and others etc....o one more thing too seeing u live in Canada locate some tuning shop around the area. That is as well needed too...

I havent found what caused it yet, everything is just dead end. Car was running fine, turned it off then it wouldn't start again. Got a ton of communication and engine signal codes. Checked fuses, relays and wiring as per procedure. Everything checks out and it just calls to replace ecu.

you can get a used ECU for ~$150, have NATS turned off with an uprev reflash for $300, and you car should work perfectly fine if there isn't something else that fried the ecu. IF it does fry that ecu call uprev and they'll either recover your license from the fried ecu or give you another one so you won't even be out the $300 for the Osiris license.

How's the turboxs for that, if I buy a used ecu? Can I disable nats with that? And am I able to use it being na?

Only uprev allows you to turn off nats. Utec is a piggyback and therefore doesn't do anything to the ECU, it just modifies the signals. For tuning NA I don't think anyone will argue that Uprev isn't the absolute best option.

edit: uprev also works great for boost unless you're going for big power (over 600)

Okay. Just wondering cause someone had the turboxs for sale in the marketplace. I'll look into that used ecu tomorrow
