boost without standalone?
ok just a quick question. where I live (Canada) there are no tuner shops for miles like 15 plus hours away
If i were to twin turbo with a greddy kit and stay at 6 psi can i go with a chip tune have the ecu reflashed or is it even possible i had a guy mention this to me but im not sure i like the idea of that doesnt sound reliable. and if i do install it is there any possible way i can make it driveable to take it to get it tuned if i ran a haltech

why would you spend the $8-15k on a FI kit and not get it as dialed in as possible? my advice would be to have you car shipped to a reputable installer and tuner and pick it up when done or get the etune to be able to drive it to a good dyno tuner.
i plan on installing the kit my self the point would be to get the tune so i could drive to a shop and have it tuned properly to get rid of the shipping or trailering cost. ever try crossing the boarder to the states with a car on the trailer they don't believe your not buying anything.
so with the uprev how does that work do i send my ecu away with the specs of the car?
i mean i don't like the idea or running the car like that but its really my only option. there is one shop here has only ever tuned 2 350z and blew one up never even left the shop blew on the dyno was the shops fault.
i dont have the car support around here like the states does if you want something you pay out your *** for it. and there might be 10 z's in my city and thats it i boosted car is even rare to see.

most turbokits come with some form of ems or tune. those would be good enough to get you to a tuner as long as you are not getting into boost.
uprev uses an obd2 plugin dongle that you then connect to a laptop. you upload the tune through that. the tuner version also allows you to change any of those parameters yourself. both versions have data logging though. to get a e tune they will ask you to do a drive while datalogging they will then send you an etune that you will then upload to your car.
my suggestion would be to install your kit upload the tune supplied with your kit, then pay the $50 for an etune and data log your car while driving and upload the etune based off that, then drive it somewhere to have it dyno tuned if you want.

Is there any dyno around you? You can get a remote log in tune if you have a shop that can run the dyno while someone logs into the computer. Hal offers remote services with haltech.
With the wild variances in atmosphere, engines, turbo kits even a standard "flash tune" there can be quite a bit of danger.

with his budget i doubt he has the money for a stand alone like the haltech. it all depends on what kit you buy, some have tuner kits where you supply your own. first narrow it down to what kit you are going to buy. then contact a reseller/manufacturer of the kit about engine managment. without knowing what kit in what configuration you are going to run it's all pretty much pointless.
there is a dyno about two hours from me they only work on muscle cars tho. thats the thing i don't have any shops i can go to. i do plan on going with the haltech. I plan on going with the greddy kit

Greddy package usually come with a tuner program. If you go uprev it's not Mac compatible. I had to get a cheap refurbish hp lap top. There are option. Haltech would be the best scenario.
Also, just because they only do muscle cars doesn't mean anything. There aren't any tuning shops around me here but they will GLADLY charge you to use the dyno. You pay them to run the dyno (not car specific) and you have your computer going with Hal logged into it. Simple.
I would highly doubt a shop would turn down easy money like that.
So what's the budget? The used haltechs on the market now make them a cheaper option than osiris and you have all in 1 not piecing together things like a logger, a/f, and boost control separately. Some are selling for around 1000$
