If ive had the ecu flashed by a tuner and the software is on my ecu can I purchase an uprev cable and tweak the map or is the map that was flashed licensed to the tuner?

 

Its not licensed to the tuner but you will need to get a copy of it from them before you can make any changes. Whether they will give you an unlocked copy or not depends on the shop...

That being said you can buy a $400 "tuner add-on" package that will give you a reflash cable that has full access to the tuning software, you already have the license so you don't need to buy another one

 

Yes you can, however there's some extending circumstances

If you purchase a UpRev Cipher Cable you can get a license check and UpRev will upgrade your cable to Osiris Standard (used by tuners). That will unlock a few extra things.

As far as owning a previously used cable with an exisiting license or locked i would highly suggest calling UpRev before you get any bad information.

Uprev doesn't sell the basic cipher cables anymore. They do have the "interface cable", which is just an Osiris standard cable without an Osiris license. This is not the one used by tuners, just end-users who want to be able to reflash the ECU. It works exactly the same as an Osiris standard cable, just that the Osiris license is already on his ECU.

There is nothing that you can "lock" on the cables, just the tune that is flashed onto the ECU. Again unless you can get the shop who originally tuned the car to send you a copy of the tune then its a mute point since you can't just plug in and access the tune.
