Default best weather for a tune?

Does it really matter what time of year you tune the car? For example winter vs summer? Or is it just for better numbers on a dyno

I would agree with trav so that you don't tune in extreme hot or cold days. Somewhere in the middle is best

Are you looking for dyno queen numbers for bragging rights or to just properly set your tune?

Properly set tune is what I'd like. I can care less about bragging rights. Florida doesn't get so cold in the winter I'll be having headers installed very soon that will prob be my last bolt on I already been running my car for awhile now with almost full bolt ons. Dont want to be pushing it much longer especially since headers are coming on in the near future.

it does not matter the time of year you get tuned. You might put out slightly better numbers in the cooler weather simply because the atmospheric conditions favor...but thats not exactly how tuning works. Once the ecu has been programed to hit ideal AF ratio and all that stuff under load...it will be fine

if you are doing shorty headers you are pretty much wasting your time... not many gains from them for the long difficult install

From my understanding long tube produce more HP cause it takes the place of the HFC. I already have cats on and I can get short header installed pretty cheap.

Shorty headers are good if want more noise, while still having cats.

Both of you guys are accurate. Whether or not something is worth it completely comes down to the owner and what they want out of your car.
I got my shorty headers on and I can't say it was worth it, but yes I am happy i did it

Exactly how I see a header mod...the time and money it takes to do headers on a car, might as well the best, PROVEN, ones...which in our cars are LTH

The best thing with weather and tuning is to try keep it a constant for future mods. Changes in weather will effect hp, if you add new parts and retune, you may want similar weather to properly evaluate the gains if any.

Reviving old thread. I pretty much have all the boltons on my 06. I have the Cobb ots stage 2 tune. Will there be any extra power gained or any advantages really by getting a custom tune. Will be doing the 3.9 fd soon so am almost done with engine mods. Any help especially if you can explain where it might help I recently made 272 who on a DD if that makes any difference.
