Default Tuning questions

Okay, so as some of you may realize I'm slowly learning my way around both tuning, and UpRev.

First the mods:
05 G35 Revup

Short ram intake,
Headers,
Test pipes,
Exhaust

I logged my AFR's on both banks and it's anywhere from 11-13:1.

At about 2000 RPM's all the way up to 5700 it stays roughly around the 13:1, and from there to redline it becomes 12:1.

I've been driving the car like this for years, without any issues. I know that 12:1 is ideal, but I haven't had any issues with how it was running.

What do you guys think?

If you're at 13:1 on a naturally aspirated engine you're fine -

What are you tuning with? are these OEM (narrow band)sensors that you're logging this data from?

12:1 is not ideal if you are N/A.

Since it is a 2005 you will have factory WB sensors. You need to lean it out to 13.3ish. That's where they seem do run the best at. Tune using your MAF till you get it close and do the rest on the fuel map. Change your whole fuel map to 100s before starting with the MAF.

As Uprevtuning mentioned, I'm an 05 so I have factory wideband.

Uprevtuning: where are you getting your information from? Not that I'm calling you a liar, but I like to double check information before I dive into it

Thanks for the reply fellas!

12:1 is way too rich for basic mods. 13:1 will make more power and run cleaner

Mine was rich with just the exhaust only. I believe at 12.6.

All right guys,

I've been reading a few posts (mainly from djamps)

In a few of his posts (collectively), he said to;
Turn the fuel compensation tables to 100
Then take the fuel target and punch in your desired AFR's

Then log: Target AFR, Actual AFR, and MAF voltages.

I've logged this for about fourteen minutes, of mainly cruising. How am I supposed to tune the MAF table with this information?

Also, I only have two AFR's in the fuel target (as I'm trying to learn what each does) 14.7 and 13.07 (pretty much 13.1).

Thanks for your help!

You tune your MAF close loop based on corrections. You can only use the corrections in close loop. If it says .96 correction you will use the multiplier and multiply it by .96 at the MAF volts the needs to be changed. 1.03 is the same way. Just use the multiplier. 1.03 would mean you are adding fuel.

I have seen multiple dyno results and 13.3 seemed the be the sweet spot. Based on my butt dyno my car has felt like it likes 13.3 to.

WHat do you mean by "multiplier"?

My logs don't show any correction either. I just Target AFR, AFR B1, AFR B2, and MAF voltage.

How does your fuel target map look like?

I pretty much took every area that DID NOT have have 14.7 and put 13.1 there. I've noticed that at any RPM if I go to WOT it instantly tries to go to 13.1.

After you get your MAF tuned, do you just leave the fuel map as is (100) then adjust accordingly?

You need to log corrections on bank 1 and 2 so you see it

* MAF (v) (mas-v)
* A/F Ratio (bank 1 and 2) * wideband equipped models late ('04+)
* NB Sensor 1 (bank 1 and 2) * non-wideband equipped models (early '04 or older)
* Corrections (bank 1 and 2)
TPS (v) (throttle position)
APP (v) (pedal position)
RPM
Speed
Timing
BFS (mS)
You should be logging all of these.

All right, I've got it logged, I see two corrections, do I take an average to them or something?

Sorry this is all very new to me, but I'm willing to learn

Yea. How much difference is each bank on A/F on average.
