Depending on the dyno a 25 HP gain is entirely possible. Its just a number.
Same reason one car will make 260 on this dyno and 300 on that dyno. Some tuners calibrate it to read higher to give customers a bigger smile. Heck I've even known of guys who tune the car then do another pull with a detuned map that reads lower than stock just to inflate the numbers.

Why's it such a big deal? That has nothing to do with the OP's question...

You PAY for a tune and it's locked/you can't access it. What a joke.

Cause it's a 'one time pass', not a 'season pass'.. But I don't know anything about tuning, so.

It's like a tech overclocking your computer and denying access to your bios

No, its not a joke. You paid for a custom calibration, which they did. You paid for the final product, a tuned car. The tune is essentially their IP, and is locked so you can't mess with it/ steal it. Unless they agreed to give you access to the actual tune file to see what they did ahead of time then there's no issue. Also there are liability issues if they leave the tune unlocked.. you could mess with it then try and turn it back on the tuner saying they blew your car up. I've seen it happen before.

If you have a problem with that then don't pay for a custom tune, learn how to do it yourself.

Good analogy.. but in that case, I would remove the CMOS battery to clear the CMOS RAM(which is volatile) to reset the bios back to default parameters.

Lol, I do my own tuning. Still think it's a joke.
