Default IAT Temps

Hi All,
Any tuning guru's on here give some guidance on IAT temps, esp those with the vortech?
Concerned my charge cooler may be too small.

Get the biggest charge cooler you can fit..removing the crash bar will facilitate this

vortech intercooler is way too small

That's what I gathered but is there an intercooler you can get which allows one to retain the factory crash bar?

I have the TR1245. Oldman and others praise it as the best in cooling efficiency of the in coming charge intake air. It really is a good intercooler.

I bought mine used with the intercooler welded in the middle of the crash bar.

What do you mean by in the middle of the crash bar? - Is it difficult the crash bar do you think?

What do you guys think of the Treadstone vertcal fin intercoolers?

http://www.treadstoneperformance.com...cooler++1000HP

speaking with treadstone they say that the verticals are better for track and more compact also (so easier to mount)?

Here is an example of mine. Mind you, I did not cut and weld it together myself, was done by the previous owner.

But to fit your needs for keeping the OEM crash bar and perhaps this intercooler, this is an option.

Take some crazy fabrication to make that fit

What's the issue with mounting the treadstone TR1245 with the OEM crashbar? is it the thickness, i.e. depth of the TR1245?

I found this one which could do the trick and has the same dimensions but is 1 inch thinner then the TR1245, here: http://www.treadstoneperformance.com...rcooler++760HP

This should be easier to mount with the oem crashbar and should be an improvement over the Vortech charge cooler (8N101-350). Here are the dimensions of all three intercoolers:

1. Vortech intercooler (8N101-350):
20"(W) x 7.8"(H) x 3.5"(D)

2. Treadstone 760hp intercoler (TR1235):
22"(W) x 12.5"(H) x 3.5"(D)

3. Treadstone 100hp intercooler (TR1245):
22"(W) x 12.5"(H) x 4.5"(D)

Opinions appreciated please guys - thanks.

The issue is that any other cooler doesn't fit

I think your question has been answered get the biggest intercooler you can get rid of the crash bar

Thanks - i bought the TR1235. Sure I will have fun mounting it.

I've been logging IAT temps with the stock vortech IC on a 'hot day' (25c+) and have recorded some data which may be of interest to people in the same boat.

I've been told that intake temps should be kept below 120degrees F. I'm in the UK and we do mainly Degrees C. Mostly I am below that but you can see when I creep above it at sustained high RPM and speed. See attached - can only imagine what would happen on track.

Will record some data once the new IC has been mounted. Thanks for all of the input so far.
