Thanx for the compliment Mike. I will say that you were driving a lot harder than I was that morning. Send me a CD with all of the chatter going on, I'm curious Besides I love the sound of tires squalling.
Neither one of us was driving full tilt.

I'll just load the raw version to youtube now. All my yacking is no where near as cool as Fort Minor or Trapt, but what the heck.

7:33pm the video has been "processing" for 20 minutes. I am going to get my running out of the way and try back a little later....

I hope to get all of the pitures in my hands soon. I hope to havee the dam foto and the winners up by the end of the week. The rest takes time.
Wow at 275-315! 315 on an 18, must be 10 or 11" wheel?

I am wondering how much difference it would have been if I got Tokico DSpecs instead of Blues and turned the damping all the way to hardest setting. Coilovers aren't for me as I cannot make use of going that low (daily driver) and other than that, I don't AutoX so the tweaks aren't really worth the cost.

Cannot wait until next year for sure! Hopefully by then I will have some wet and dry AutoX under my belt.

I don't think cranking them to full dampen is the way to go, there is an art to suspension tuning. I'm not that good at it, so I don't give advice. Will Taylor (underpressure) is good as it. I have to struggle and lots of trial and error but here is as good as source to start as any

http://www.bimmerhaus.com/tech/shocktuningTN.html

just my opinion.

Shock tuning is the final fine tuning to a suspension. 1st arguably is alignment, 2nd is springs, 3rd is sway bars, and last is dampers. This is of course assuming you can put down consistent laps at the limit, because one person's damper settings may or may not work for another driver. Driving style has a lot to do with damper settings.

It is similar to engine tuning, do you just trust anyone's advise and let some crack pot with a laptop tune your engine? Why would you do the same to your suspension. Either of which is wrong will make the car either unplpeasant to drive or undrivable.

The only advise I'll give you is more track time, any car in stock form has more potential than the average driver. Car companies spend lots of money on engineering for drivability. Thier biggest downfall is adding understeer for liability's sake, but that is engineered in as well
</soapbox>

That said, a well setup car is an absolute pleasure to drive and I wish you luck in you future suspension setup.

Sorry for the length, I get carried away at times

I have never ran the dragon from beginning to end without being stopped by traffic.

I did have one uninterrupted run from the state line to the lookout point in 10:xx. I was careful with the brakes the whole way down and on smaller tires, but I calculated my average speed to 49.xx MPH. I read somewhere that the record holder did the whole thing on a sport bike and averaged 60MPH.

LOL, it is a god thing Nick had an empty stomach. I could hear him swallowing it back down, LOL. I do feel sorry for your clutch, you are having to use so much enginer braking due to your base brakes, but you are driving the ding dong out of it. Next year I'll start dropping into 2nd in the slow turns. That was a blast, next year I'll have a coordinator onsite so I can play more

In the Lightning a few years ago I ran a 12:09 from the bridge to the gap. Of course that was with a ton of torque [803WTQ] verses the wind up toy I'm driving now. I dunno if I could run it that fast in the Z, no torque to pull out of the turns.

Since I wasn't threshold braking, my footwork improved instantly. My rev-matching success-rate went through the roof.

My clutch was happy, but I'm not sure the motor enjoyed it. I hope the synthetic oil helped.

It was cool that morning, I'm sure engine oil was fine. Watching that video I'm disapointed that I didn't drive harder

Oh well there is always next time.

I wouldn't sweat it. Like I said, you were/are textbook fast on that mountain, and that's a dangerous road.

318 turns = 318 chances to make a mistake.

Maybe more like 636 lol, cuz you have to brake going in, and throttle going out.
