note: just so you know, it's illegal to bring firewood from out of state into NC. not usually a big deal but you could get fined if you get pulled over and the 5-0 knows the law about it. ran into issues with the xterra club when we go camping at uwharrie for this. i don't know why but that's the law...

Transporting wood from region to region can spread insects into areas where there is no natural predator. The Emerald Ash Boarer was responsible for wiping out nearly every Ash tree in Michigan. If this pest reached the Ash tree farms in New York state, the production of things like baseball bats would be in jeopardy as they depend on Ash tree wood for its strength.
