I will continue to add and make sure this thread gets bumped every month until ZDAYZ '12.
Many of you know that ZDAYZ is an incredible time and we have a blast every year with the hundreds of hours of work that the staff puts in for the event.
In the past there was a sub-culture of people who attended this event in a different fashion. I haven't driven a Z to ZDAYZ 3 of the 6 years I have been going, whether it be a Jeep or a Honda Civic we've managed to make the most out of it. Side note, yes I was the guy in the 4 door black auto civic running the dragon.
This year our group wants to for the lack of the better word get organized about some of the things we do. Rafting Trips, Off-Roading, Pontoon Boats, Side Trips to the Biltmore for wine tasting & pictures, hiking, a multitude of drinking games and more. Thursday - Saturday Night I try to do as many sanctioned events as possible but still do so many other things since we plan on arriving monday or tuesday.
I'd love to get more ideas. We are heading down the tuesday before for a rafting trip. I also know of some great places off the beaten trail for some great wheeling, we have been bringing Jeeps to wheel. This year we may bring a 4wheeler or 2 in my trailer.
Post up ideas or what you guys plan on doing this year. ZDAYZ is great but usually its the icing on a 5 day vacation cake.
Rafting Signup : Only plan up to 15 people, rafts fill 5 per boat w/ guide. If we have more I have to call and reserve the boats. 1/2 day guide assisted rafts are $34

We are also looking to get a couple pontoon boats one day as well, maybe after rafting and just kick back on the water and have a few. The water is fairly cold that time of year but its not too bad if you are used to OH/ MI lakes.
Some other ideas are fishing / fish fry, Golf Cart Regatta, and your general house party ideas. This year the now sanctioned Beer Pong Contest may mature into a full grown Beer Fest, bigger teams, bigger stakes and more organization.
Last year Robin lost money on the sanctioned Beer Pong Tourney and it was a shame. Everyone had fun but some of these events need organization and sponsorship.
Also for the single folks, you should scout University of Tennessee and organize a shindig. It would be nice if the dude ratio was lower, and for us who are not single it's always nice to have more scenery. How about a foam party, some good house DJ etc.

Sorry to hear Robin took a bath on the beer pong. I heard from Jeff that since the kegs didn't work out, the cost of beer blew the budget. I'll gladly pay more in 2012 to help him recover from the losses in 2011.
All are great ideas!! I'm not an experieced rafter. So if you're thinking Level 5 rapids on the Ocoee River, I'll gladly watch from the shore. LOL.
I'll discuss this at the next Great Lakes Z Club meeting and see what kind of ideas folks can come up with. I'm pushing hard to get a better crowd to the next ZdayZ.

I'd love to go to '12 Zdayz! However being 18 has its downsides... I'm located in Cleveland and am in the Cleveland Z Club so I'll see if any of them are going down and maybe we can meet up with everyone in your area on the way down I now personally I'd love to go period!

The Great Lakes Z Club (Michigan) would love to meet up with you and the Cleveland folks to head down. Don't just think, "I'd love to go..." Just plan to go. Seriously. I went by myself in 2009 and had such a great time, I've been back every year. This is hands down the best time you can have in your Z with your clothes on.

Closest University is UT in knoxville I believe. About an hour or so outside the Dragon.
We don't care about how old you are it's a pretty good group of enthusiasts. Only concern is you drive smart and act right and usually by right after we are on campus of Fontana like crazy person is acceptable.

But I'd like to consider myself a smart driver because I know that any speeding ticket or accident doesn't just cost me immediatly but also in the long run because my insurance will go up

Yah, thats a different type of smart driver. Personally I have an attorney on speed dial because the tickets i get are pretty damn scary, but thats just me. I'm more talking about Corner entry & Exit, Staying in your lane even though the apex is clearly in the other, not pushing the tires and brakes past their limits. Accounting for pedal slop on a long run, allowing faster traffic past you, don't do something stupid while someone is watching, properly etching your car for an event like the dragon and realizing your personal limitations. I literally get my car tech'd just like it was going to a DE or TA event, After the 4 year I've driven my setup there I even have alignment settings I use that are dragon specific. Now this is overkill but it is an important part to surviving.
NEWB Checklist:
Check Brakes, Flush Fluid w/ Dot 4, Plenty of meat on pads, if you don't have factory Brembo or aftermarket brakes you are going to be even more careful.
Tires, very important, good tread, fairly sticky compound, something good in all weather.
Seatbelt - wear it.
Don't Lead, trust me it's much better to follow your first year or so, and you'll have idiots like me running up on you.
Yellow Lines - When you cross them people get hurt.

I'll be going down this upcoming year! I was so mad I wasn't able to go last year. But I'll be heading down with a group of a 370z vert,a momentum-charged 350z, a 240z and hopefully a TT 300zx!

Well I'm making an assumption form your name that you have the 35th anniversary possibly? I have that model so I do have brembo's and just recently put fresh tires on so those should last till '12 Zdayz? Also I have done autox so I'm somewhat used to entering/brake lines and such. I'm not going to be over confident and will deffinently take things slower and maybe '13 or '14 Zdayz I'll be leading the pack (: Untill then I'll observe and learn!
