If you want to know more about the Swiss Army and their defense strategy, read this (very interesting) book:

They have a "porcupine defense" strategy. Their bridges and all pre-wired to explode, so if they are attacked, they can detonate their own bridges, making their transportation system useless to the attacker. In case the pre-wiring fails or is disabled, they have missiles pointed at the same bridges. And any potential attacker knows this. They also have shelters built in the mountains designed to allow people to survive in case of nuclear attacks.
