I just had this problem with some "flip video" video from ZdayZ.

Here is what I did for mine. (Some of the settings may vary if your gopro records in a different format, but you should be able to find what you need to match your format.

(If you want to edit the video in WMM, you can use this program to convert the video to an AVI, and do whatever you want with WMM.

http://formatoz.com/download.html

Install it. Run it (don’t install the 3rd party program…you’ll see the checkbox for it during install).

Go to the “Video” button on the left, select “All to MP4”, click the “Output Setting” button, on the dropdown, pick “HD 1280x720 AVC Wide Screen”, at the very bottom, click the + next to “Advanced” and select Yes for both X Mirror and Y Mirror (this will effectively rotate the video 180-degrees). Click the OK button.

Also set the FPS to "default" which will use the input files FPS. (It opens with 25 FPS (European standard) and if you don't change it, your video that was recorded in 30FPS (flip video standard in USA) will be a little slower than real-life.

Now click the “Add File” button, select your video(s) (I did all the videos for one day, like Saturday for example), hit Open, hit the OK button and you’ll be back at the main screen with all the videos you selected listed on the right in the queue.

Click the “Start” button at top center and off it goes. I did one of the small videos and it seemed ok. No black bars, no watermarks. It seems to make the video smaller (meaning probably lower quality) but was still watchable in my book.

Even though it's a smaller vid, the quality is still pretty good... Youtube saw mine as 720p HD. But you have to manually select it in the bottom right after the movie starts.

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZEUn27oklzQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZEUn27oklzQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
