Question Seeking advice on a HD camera

Well my crappy sony picture camera gave out on me two weeks ago and Ive been wanting to get an HD camera for quite some time, so Im seeking advice from the forum elders and video shooting gods...

Objective:
I want to make my own Youtube videos that aren't cheesy or filled w/ gay techno music in the background

Budget:
No more than 400 including shipping

What Im looking for:
An HD camera that will last
Good video quality
Something w/ crystal clear sound
Water/rain resistant (if possible)
Something that can handle outdoor/freeway driving
A good movie editing software* (I'll buy sepreate if I have to)

Why you ask?
I have alot of free time and need something to do, I live on the forums and I visit youtube quite frequently

I know expensive @ss equipment was used, but i want to make videos similar to these:

Im thinking about purchasing this:
http://www.amazon.com/GoPro-HD-Motor...673212&sr=8-10
^^^Along w/ the tripod and seat mounting bracket

Forgive my ignorance as i am a noob when it comes to movie editing

I am well aware that skills like the ones on the videos dont happen overnight and probably take more $ than I am willing to spend. Ill try my hardest to deliver a video worth watching.

Please feel free to point me into the right direction

For what you're asking for, the GoPro seems to be a good fit. It has it's own waterproof casing and various mounting brackets available.

Overstock.com has the GoPro HD Motorsports Hero for $239.99. Sign up for the O Newsletter and you'll get a 10% off coupon which brings the price, including shipping, down to ~$220.

I ordered mine on Monday and just received it today...so, very fast delivery.

In addition, you'll need to pick up a 16 or 32 gig SD card. Amazon has a good price for the Kingston 32Gb class 4 card at $67.
