I have taken my HR intake manifold off and looked at it. There is a seam that is epoxied together. These intakes are not going anywhere and if you are hoping for a metal one on the next 370Z it is not going to happen. Build cost is to cheap with plastic. The sooner everyone starts to learn how to mod a plastic intake the better. Profits will die with the DE engine.

Side note: I have family in the old mold/metal shops in Ohio and they are a dieing breed. The work is being sucked up by China. I am always looking for ways for them to keep the buisness alive.

Possibly.

I'm now working on exhaust components that already dynoed 10HP and 40TQ (above that of a full catback system).

And they aren't cutouts.

It was on a 3.5 REVUP.
But this is not engine specific. It can be applied to any engine.

As such, the patent process requires extreme care.

I could make it tomorrow. But the problem is it was so effective and universally applicable I really need to consider how this will be done.

If it was specific to just the Z, it would be released now.
Its universal nature may require an approach to Nissan, GM, BMW or similar.

In any case, nothing is being done until the patent application is officially recognized by the USPTO.

I would do the same. with all the knockoffs these days, you'd be better off selling the idea for a chunk than deal with eroding sales when some 'entrepreneur' takes the design to china and gets it knocked off... good luck suing them

Selling the idea has an effect like china. If it is pitched to a major corp. like Nissan, GM, or BMW then what about your employees? guess we don't need blue collar work. I bet the big corp. will out source to China to get it made.

Or do you plan on cutting the employees in on the profit?

Or are you going to say you are the only employee?

edit: I sound like some member of the teamsters

any idea at all of when this could happen?

so is this part of the exhaust ur making or does one go out and buy an exhaust of their choice and then buys ur part and mates the 2 together? or is that giving away to much info?

also, is there a ballpark price yet for this?

Hmmm can't go into that detail yet.
Price is within range of just about everybody who can afford an exhaust system. Disclosure is up to the patent atty.

You can bet I want to do this right now for all the Z's. But I shouldn't be to hasty.

Fortunatly, its a lot easier than doing an all new intake for the HR.

That part in question is only a segment of the full exhaust system and will be sold as a separate component.

When the full exhaust system(s) are ready, there will be a range of different prices. Single, dual, True Dual and a lot of different options.
