Default 2007 HFC: Crawford vs. Fast Intentions

Two companies have come out with some HFC for the HR engines, Crawford, and Fast Intentions. Price difference is nearly 100 dollars, but was just starting a thread to welcome recommendations as to which I should get. I have the Nismo exhaust right now and was wondering how much louder it would get with some HFC. I've done some research and the reviews have been pretty inconsistant. Many people say HFC + Nismo is too loud, while others say it stays about the same. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm getting an oil change at WCN tomorrow and could very likely pick up the HFC there. Thanks in advanced

Berk Technology will be coming out with HFC for the07 in about a week or two. I recommend waiting for theirs. You can see what they are about here.

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279168

They are currently using my 07 to test fit.

I've met Brian(seems to be the head guy) and he's very nice and friendly. Nothing like helping supporting a local company(shop is in Irvine)

Vitviper, you got a great sounding setup man. Not many people have been able to pull off the Test Pipes with no rasp though. I have the nismo exhaust and i fear more than anything that it will turn into a ricey sounding exhaust, hence the reason I opted for the HFC. I suppose i'll wait for the Berk. BTW, how are the power gains on the TP?

Forget HFC's, get test pipes. They'll benefit you much more than those stupid HFC's.

Did you read the post above you? Test pipes plus Nismo is proven to be loud, obnoxious, and in my opinion, ricey. Yes, power gains are important, but not important enough to me to ruin the entire sound of an exhaust. To Stylett9, how much will the HFC cost in comparision to Crawford's $589.00? Do you see a difference between the two?

to be honest bro, i'm not educated enough on metal working or exhuast flow to be able to tell you which will be better. But i do believe that the BERKS will be cheaper and if you take that link i gave, their quality looks to be good and they seem very educated in what they do. I believe Berk will probably price them between 4-500. So definately cheaper then the crawford. If he adds them to the introductory price, the 03-06's were like 350 in that group buy price.

As far as the test pipes go, I really don't like test pipes. First reason, if you get caught, you are talking HUGE ticket here in California.

second, i have a nice shiny nismo exhaust. When i wash my car, i literally get down on my knees, and wipe down the exhaust. With the test pipes your tips will get extremely dirty muffler tips.

third, every morning when i commute to work, i sometimes see a civic on the same freeway as me. This guy feels the need to show off to me and when he sees me, he always races in front of me and drives in front of me. The SMELL and noise from his muffler is sooo obnoxious.

fourth, i do believe in taking care of the environment.

Why are you paying that much for HFC?? Do you think you will achieve noticeable gains with HFC??...Are you willing to pay $600 for 3-4whp??? Hey, whatever makes you happy buddy....If you're purchasing it for the "sound" then just leave you're exhaust alone, I think the nismo sounds just right, kinda quiet for my taste though....

Thanks. I went with a proven combo: both exhaust and test pipes give considerable gains. The setup was built to work together and sounds GREAT as well as provides noticeable power through out the whole RPM range.

In response to the "environment" issue some people have noted: once people get rid of their 70's and 80's POS clunkers that throw fuel and oil out the exhaust, I'll worry about the environment.

Ok, well since you asked. I don't know about you, but if you want a loud and obnoxious exhaust, just straight pipe it through. That should get you the power that you desire. Plus, it'll be cheap too. These HFC's are suppose to give 6-8, so i don't know where your 3-4 hp comes from. With the market the way it is now, the dual intakes will be roughly the same way. Are you going to pay 400 for some dual intakes for a mere 2-4 horsepower? If you answer yes, just do everybody a favor and leave the forums

I hate to go OT but I would only remove the TPs when global warming has been proven by science to be "man made" and not a natural cycle. I will then be buying a hybrid and enjoying the smell of my own farts <---Southpark

when i say for the environment i didn't mean in regards to global warming. But rather to just the quality of the air.. Have you ever flown into LAX? If you have you know exactly what i mean. You can literally see blue sky, and as you descend, the air turns a nasty brown. I breathe this crap everyday....

and just to avoid confusion, i'm not dissing people that have test pipes, it's just my own personal preferance to do what I can to help.

Nice setup Vit, Tony just shipped out my TPs for my 07 Friday, can't wait to get em and see how they work for me performance-wise (minus the CEL issue lol).
