BTW, 4th gear should be your 1:1 gear, so it's the gear you should use to dyno.
5th is 1:1, 4th is something else.

Really? Always thought it was 4th. That'll be one hell of a long dyno run.

bboy, 5th gear on the Z is 1:1 not 4th.

5th is the proper gear to dyno in.

if the normal values are 250-270, then you're not too far off. still, i'd be pissed about the service and all. plus, changing the price abruptly like that...grinds my gears!

OK. I'll have to remember that if I ever get another Z.

Tony (seriously always thought it was 4th and always seen Z's get dyno'd in 4th)

5AT's should dyno in 4th, 6MT's should dyno in 5th. It won't make a huge difference though.

I am not sure what issues you might run in in 5th gear on the HR; probably the speed limiter.

Yep, my 05 G35 hit the speed limiter in 5th gear but my 04 G35 didn't. The HR I haven't dynoed yet, but I expect it to be the same. It hit's it near redline though.

it hits it near redline..yes..but I dynoed my car in 5th and no problems... 5th will produce more accurate numbers. I believe if Gooey would have dynoed his car in 5th it would have been closer to 290rwhp...perhaps around 288. People look at his numbers (279rwhp) and wonder why the Fast Intention test pipes and exhuast didnt add that much more power. He had no befores, but that 279 would have been higher in 5th...guranteed. Unless with his new mods it FORCED him to have to dyno in 4th...

I agree you got the rough end of that deal.
Customer service must not have been there goal there.

The number you got, if it was as warm as you say seems about right.
Let us know when you go and get another one done at a reputable shop.

Thanks for posting up the pics too, God I love Skylines!

If you made it to redline with no prob then he shouln't have had a prob either. Mods won't change when you hit redline.
