Default 07 clutch slipping issue

hey guys

i got a 07 HR new with about 3000km on the clock

i was demoing the car to my mate yesterday and doing some launches and high rpm shifting, anyway between 1st and second the clutch wasn't biting and was majorly slipping until i wound back the revs a bit, then when i stopped the car smelt like burnt clutch real bad.

is this related to the 07 clutch issue that everyone is going on about?
or does it sound like some sort of defect?
or have i simply ruined my clutch with my driving style?

before you all point me to the 07 clutch issue thread, Ive read it and I'm not getting a lot of the symptoms such as clutch sticking down, rattling etc, i just seem to have a very weak clutch.

My Z is driven hardcore. I have even tracked it recently and still have not encountered the clutch problems. It's running like a champ.

The burnt smell is normal. It's common. However, I have not gotten the burnt smell yet on my car. Not even when I took it to the drag strip.

Now if your driving the car hard and let's say that you're shifting from 1st to 2nd at 7000rpm and as soon as you shift and let the clutch up and the clutch is not holding, then you might have a problem. It could be the driver too though.

that burnt smell is NOT normal. That is your clutch slipping, burning and possibly glazing. My car started off with the clutch issue like yours where the pedal didnt drop and it just slipped and burnt clutch smell. After a couple of trips to the track the pedal started to drop after high RPM launches and doesnt always bite as hard as it could. You definitely sound like u may have the clutch issue and if you do, it will get noticeably worse. I think some cars just have it worse than others. Im planning to switch to high temp clutch fluid and have the restrictor valve removed. From what I hear it helps a great deal with the slipping and pedal drop. Good luck with fixing your issue.

Yea I've been having that. Not so much latly since I broke 500 miles on the car. I guess because the car and naturally clutch is literally brand new. It would just not really slip cuz I don't feel the difference in the clutch. But it burns. Smell almost like burning rubber.. Like a stale kinda burnt smell. The other nite my friend came up to me and is like I smell burning clutch.. And I drive normal. I don't slip it or hold it or fck with it.. I know how to burn clutches cuz I did it on my civic just for no reason cuz I hated the car. But the smell is alot less noticeable now. So I guess it was it just breaking in??
