Default Help clutch nissan is bending me over

okay my clutch went out for the first time when i was at about 10,000 miles and i took it to nissan they said they wouldn't cover it under warranty and they wanted 1200 to fix it but my old baseball coaches brother own XAT racing and he said he would do it for 500 so i took it to them and they fixed it. Now i have only put about 6000 miles on it and its gone again i took it to nissan last week and they said they wont cover it under warranty because i had another shop fix it and then i called this morning when i found out about the recall on the slave cylinder and they said that the clutch had nothing to do with it and they still wont cover it and they want 2900 to fix all of it...any advice or help would be great

What?

Did your clutch go out as in started slipping or did your clutch go out as in pedal got stuck to the floor?

About the slave cylinder... if your VIN falls in the range of recalls, they HAVE TO fix it.

the first time it went out it went out as in would not engage and coasted off the highway the second time it started getting stuck to the floor and now their saying they will fix it all for 2000 but he said theres nothing wrong with the slave cylinder and im not exactly a certified tech but when theres a recall there just might be a slight chance that somethings wrong with it...im located in spring hill i took it to the crystal river dealership (where i bought it)

Be specific with does not engage. If it was slipping, then Nissan did right by not replacing it for free.

You bent yourself over by having independents do mechanical work while still in warranty.

As an independent we always refer warranty vehicles back to dealerships even though we could make money but who wants the hassles as you describe.

Not exactly... if the problem is what I think it is (as in, his clutch slipped to the point of no return), then warranty wouldn't cover it in the first place, and I sure as **** woulda took it someplace else (well, I woulda done it myself).

Now yes, for something that SHOULD be covered, always go to the dealer. More often than not it's gonna be something covered by your warranty.

Slipping = bad driving habbits... maybe trade it in for an auto???

just kidding man, but seriously, if no other parts failed, then unfortunattely it's on you... any outside shop will be able to replace a clutch, and it will be cheaper, but not by much.. parts are expensive as hell and the only one that has anything for the HR right now is the dealership...

My cars slave sylinder gave out on me today, I was at a Cars and Coffee meet in St, Pete FL, got there everything was fine. Getting ready to leave get in the car, go to press the clutch in to put the car in neutral to start it up and the clutch feels light as a feather depresses in and never comes out (limp clutch). AAA came moved the car on the tow bed and by moving the car I saw all the fluid coming out under it. I will know for sure exactly all the damage on Monday, when S and R opes the Tranny, where the slave cylinder is located and the leak is coming from. This sucks! I am pretty sure I can not get reimbursed by the dealership for this.

I see a disconnect in understanding that dealership has nothing [zero] to do with warranty. They do exactly what their largest paying customer [Nissan] says to do.
They call the Nissan Zone Office and explain the situation and follow EXACTLY what Nissan agrees to pay to repair.

Now if you **** off dealer [or have a bad mark on vehicles permanent record] they may relay your atitude and recommend against you, just as they can beg for extra consideration for good friends/customers or their relatives.

Warranty outcome is always up to owners.

I think we need to complain to nissan about this cause i have a 08 and I'm going on to my 3rd tranny with the Z. At first I took my Z to Universal Nissan and all i have to say is there service advisers SUCK!. Then I Took it to celebrity Nissan they they gave me the same deal that they gave kickstand369. Then i called up Reed Nissan who took care of everythnig. My first tranny was changed when i took it into nissan telling them my clutch got stuck on me 3 times while driving. They said it was my tranny causing it to get stuck. Plus with the Recall they changed it with out any problems. now i have a little over 3,000 miles on the second tranny, and im hearing a slight noise just from first gear, and only first gear. So i took it back to Reed Nissan and the tech checked out the tranny and they are ordering me other tranny. Thats 3 trannys on a Z with 24k on it...

But to help you out kickstand369... You never should of let your friends shop put the new clutch in. You can try to fight it but nissan will not cover it under warrenty since you took it to an outside shop. even more with the slave recall... Call 800 Nissan-1 and fight it. good luck
