You guys loosing your belts alot ............... do you live in climates that become very humid and then very dry? Wondering if that may be dry rotting your belts faster.

That's not it. With mine, something either just isn't aligned right or it's a defective belt. No big deal. Just get it fixed and keep an eye on it.

sorry to be so late, But I had the belt and tensioner replaced, both under warranty. The techs said it was the tensioner locking up caused all of this. but on guy said there were alot of birdfeathers around that area. I couldnt think how a bird could get in there unless it was a small finch that got in there, but yet there was no blood or stains of any kind. hmmm, but the car is running fine and they gave me a complimentary oil change as well. I check on it every week just to make sure.

P.S. the cars is kept in a garage and where I live here in south texas, its humid and weather/climate is constantly changing.

Well, my 2nd belt is toast. Started the car up this morning and I hear "fwapfwapfwapfwap". Popped the hood and the belt is all chewed up. Gonna take it over to the dealership after I'm off work and get them to order me up a new one. Got about 10,400 miles on the car now and the original belt was replaced about 4,200 miles.

Gonna have to make sure they do more than just replace the belt. Going through 2 serpentine belts in under 11,000 miles just ain't right.

Something must be wrong ^. I'm at 67k and i'm still running the stock belts, I've been meaning to change them, but they still look fine.

Yeah, I figure I've probably got a bad/loose pulley. It's just the timing that sucks. They can't look at my car until Wednesday and I need to have the back by HIN this weekend.

I know the feeling, in my old car (98 eclipse) i used to eat tru serpentine belts almost every 2 months once it got to around 100K miles. Eventually sold the car cos the dealership was never able to find out what caused it. Driving with no steering but mostly no A/C in FL is definitely not a fun thing to do!
Anyone know if the same serpentine belt drives the AC and steering on the Z?

lol at people if they really expect the dealership to replace your belt for free because you let a fuking rat eat it.

My 07 blew a belt today at only 17,000 miles. After seeing this thread it seems like it may be an issue with 07's, first the clutch slave cylinder and now this. Bummer...

at about 37k I noticed a tick from the engine, popped the hood and noticed a single thread smacking things. I was on a road trip and couldn't work on it. it ended up breaking off and no more noise. I've been monitoring it ever since but it hasn't gotten any worse. I think one of the pulleys is a little off after looking at it. when I go to the dealership I'm gonna pick up another belt for future. seems we're havin issues though. maybe we'll see if something comes from it soon.
