i have dual stillen intakes should i just by an exhaust now or will headers make a difference?

I don't think anybody makes headers for the HR. But what you can do is get headers from the DE engines and slap those on. They have been confirmed to fit.

If you should do it? Depends on what your plans are for the car. If you are going to make it a track-driven performance car, then go for the DE headers and DE test pipes and slap on a cat-back exhaust. Furthermore, get a tune (once they are available for the HR). You should see good gains.

If you just want to keep it subtle like me, then no I would not recommend headers. Labor costs are high for the amount of power you will get. But I don't know what your budget is... Anyways, I don't plan on doing anything to my car, it looks great the way it is. I might get a cat-back exhaust and some nice rims. That's it for me.

what kind of opinion is that? if we're going straigh opinion, then that exhaust sounds like crap anyway. if you have a performance exhaust system, a set of headers will only help you more. throw on a pair of HFCs and you have a great flowing exhaust system.

If you think that spending 1K+ is worth a better sound and pretty much no HP gains then that is your opinion...
Personally i think that the HKS exhaust sounds great and you will get more power out of it for the HR then the HEADERS.......

pretty much no hp gains? what are you talking about? increased pipe diameter and equal length tubing will lead to torque gains. there are gains to be made at every stage of the exhaust system. that being headers, catalytic converters and exhaust system.

that may be. however, manufacturer listings are $700 for ceramic coated headers, and $1,795 for the HKS exhaust. You're going to gain about 7-8 lb-ft. from the headers. and about the same from the exhaust. so, bang for your buck does not lead to the exhaust system.

well if u could find some used dc headers which should be around 4-500 bucks, then buy a single exh. which is another 500 or so. u should be good. oh and 200 for test pipes.............but my question still stands....does de headers really fit on the hr???if yes then YAY

yes they do.. but you also need pre-hr cats / test pipes

 

People have fit them, but I question if the Y-pipe is now mis-aligned. The HR has a taller deck height than the DE (pop your hood, note the big *** motor sitting higher up). The headers thus bolt on, higher up the motor. So without a longer header/cat section the Y-pipe would be supported higher in the front than normal. The flex pipe should more than allow for this, but I dunno if its worth mentioning or not (or if the aftermarket stuff will be different in this regard).
