Oh yeah. I'm a little brother. Call me "Pavlov's brother"

ok- this being my first post on this forum, i have my flame suit zipped up tight. a side exit exhaust has a worthwhile use on CERTAIN applications. my last car was a 2004 dodge SRT-4 (yes, a neon), and i had all the mopar staged upgrades that they sell. i went to the drag strip most weekends, and i hit a wall where i simply couldn't break into the 11sec range. after investing in 12k plus in aftermarket parts, i was running tight on money, so bang for the buck dictated that i go for a 3" side exit vice rear exit exhaust to replace my beloved mopar/borla 2.5" rear exit which sounded beautiful. dyno went from 355/372 to 374/404. finally broke into the 11's and traps went up from 117 to 122. so the exhaust got results, but i hated the sound.
sooooo.... in closing- please dont flame SEE's as redneckish as they make power under the right conditions.
HOWEVER- shorter exhausts such as this are suited for turbocharged applications where bulk flow is more vital than scavenging such as for an N/A application. A SEE will not make additional power on your Z and will destroy the midrange response and make it sound like crap.

like i said, i was tight on money at the time and wanted to break into the 11's. the company that produced the 3" SEE also produced a 3" turbo outlet that i purchased as a package for a reasonable amount of money. yes, i seriously considered an E-cutout downpipe/3" turbo outlet from another manufacturer (for about the same money) to get the same benefits and keep the mopar exhaust, but i had several friends with the same setup that had issues with the initial fitment and cracking of the exhaust manifold over time due to a lack of critical support struts between the turbo outlet and engine block. i could get much more detailed on this issue, but that would be getting away from the focus of this forum.
Wasnt Cheston messing around with that idea when he was prototyping cf fenders for his Z. I also seen some JGTC andSuper GT cars run that set up. Track yes on the street you will definitely get rolled on. Lots of fab work and money to do it right for very little improvement. Also limiting the back pressure that much will make you car sluggish from the bottom to mid range of your power band, but top end should be really good gains.
