forget about the hks go with the bassani exhaust! get that and test pipes and you will be a good amount faster. that will run about 1200 plus install. then when you save the rest get a tune.

With a base I'd get bigger wheels/tires & a LSD, most likely Qualife. The non-GT/Nismo Z's have too little tire for the stock engine really. And 300+ HP on an open diff is just dumb.
Most power mods for the HR are a waste of time honestly. The bang for the buck just isn't there. Nothing wrong with doing them for fun but it's hard to rationally justify them. It's not like a turbo car where you can pick up lots of cheap power with exhaust and engine management mods.

I searched and read the stickies before I made this thread.
First, my speakers arent crystal clear at mid volume, and I dont expect them to be since they are stock. But is this normal?
Secondly, I have $1500 or so to put towards performance parts....
What are the best parts available for hp and in what order should I get them? I like the stillen exhaust as well as the hks dual titanium exhaust. What do you think?
Also, I do not want test pipes as I do not want a car that ppl can hear from 5 blocks. I'm thinkin hfc's but i dont know a lot about z's to just go out and buy a few things and hope i get good results.
Thanks in advance for any advice and please don't flame me if I dont seem like I dont know what i'm talking about, because I dont.

Some of these guys are just saying mods that u arent going to put on your car anyways. So why they keep bringing up lsd's and more exhausts kits? he said 20 hp guys!
Heres Everything from Experence....Here you go:
- I have the hks hi-power duals its the best known exhaust for power and sound. HKS = Low deep sound. Growls. Pops every time I decelerate !
perfect install and fitment.
[there might be better but there way overpriced]
---since its a new car DONT put test pipes on it! mine is a 08 and i have friends with duals and test pipes. worst thing every to do(to a new z). cus you say goodbuy to your waranty forever and u also get ticket from cops that hear it. plus when u put test pipes on dual exhaust u lose power.
[this coming from a friend who did it and switched to single exhaust because of it...(he had back preasure issues)]
and it makes it horrible sound raspy at 4000+ rpm
-One good thing about it was my friend had mugen headers, mugen test pipes, and hks dual and he shot flames when he raced! not worth it tho.
-it has been independently dyno proven that all intakes to date for the z have kept stock power the same or lost power.
...sound good tho!
[proven with one dyno, one day, one car, top 6 intakes]
-k&n drop-ins is the only proven increase. only 3hp to wheels tho. you decide if its worth it. $90
[i personaly am get K&N and going in and custom triming more cold air to the stock air box.]
-good choice on the hks and watch out when buying intakes. choise wisely!
im soon dynoing mine after k&n. just for kicks
-as for keeping your waranty and going fast go with nismo spec parts from nissan. they have racing parts that even the nismos z dont even have that u can buy and have full waranty on them!!!!!
im getting the headers and hi-flow cats and keeping my warranty!
i know everything there is to know about the vq. so if you need any more advice just ask.

well zman not being trying to knock you down but.... when you say you no everything about the vq that is a big statement to say... Ya, honestly when i had my bassani exhaust(td) i noticed that even with that i lost some of my low end tq
. So i switched to getting resonated test pipes + tanabe medillan touring exhaust. I honestly would go with this because you can still stay quite below 2,400 rpms but get a lot of power and not to loud either
. The in cabin noise is very low and sounds as loud as the bassani with no tp on it.
I no you already bought your hks exhaust but if you ever decided to change your mind i would honestly recommend this. Just my 2cents

plus that set up may by good. im just sayed all that about back prasure cus HE HAS an hks set-up. if he had your exhaust it would of been different. i could go on about options/combos with the bassani but i got to got to work.
-anyways from experence i listened to both set up before and the hks is deeper tone then the bassani. but when u start talking about tone and pitch its all about preference of the driver.
---thanks for your 2 cents i always like to here others thoughts.

-hard to improve on.
we put on an intake and lose power while the 93 civic get 15+ hp. rough world! but we drive z's and g's and we wouldn't have it any other way!
