Default Nismo 1.5 Way........4.08 Gears

I just ordered my 4.08 Gears and am close to ordering a Nismo 1.5 Way LSD and drop it into my Base Model Z. One question tho...on mynismo.com it says that the nismo LSD is for trannys with 3.5, 3.7, 3.9 gears? Is it not compatible with trannys with 4.08 gear ratios?

If you can put a 4.08 gear on a stock vlsd then you can bolt it up to the nismo 1.5. I installed mine and the gear ring/ bolts are the same as stock. The only thing changing it is the space between the teeth.

You're fine. I have the exact setup in my 5AT. I would suggest getting the Motul mineral based gear oil from Forged Performance, the LSD is noisy and unfriendly for a daily driver, it will take care of 90% of the noise issue but you still feel engagement in corner accel/decel

4.08 gears from Z1 Performance, install kit no. 1, I believe this was @$530. The Nismo LSD comes will all you need, I ordered it for $750 shipped. Motul mineral based gear oil I believe was @$30 bucks, and I did the install myself, so I saved quite a bit there. The acceleration difference vs. the oem 3.37 gears is very noticable. If WOT in auto mode, the car can't quite shift fast enough and hits the limiter on the 1-2, and sometimes the 2-3 shift. The car pulls much harder, I am very pleased with the results. I have 275s on the rear, and with the upgrade LSD, you get ridiculous traction out of the hole from a dig. I think with a reflash or tuning option, (atleast get rid of the throttlebody lag) and a shift kit, I could be truly content NA....

Off topic, I see in your sig you have a full exhaust and AAM TPs. Does your exhaust have an awful resonating vibration with the AAM testpipes? I took my TPs off after many attempts to isolate and dampen the vibration.

nope, didnt notice any vibration, i only had the exhaust on for about a month
before i sold it.

so you didnt have to buy a 6sp punkin? I read some where you had to swap if you had a 5at

thanks for the feedback

No, you do not need a 6 speed pumpkin IF you replace the LSD with one for a manual. The 3.37 has a different tooth count for both the pinion and ring gear, which shifts the location of the ring gear by @10mm. It is the 5AT's LSD that is different from the 6 speeds, it locates the ring gear in the correct position for the 3.37s. If they ever get the CEL fix working for the HRs, maybe I'll try my AAM TPs again.
