actually i've driven my brothers car and my car and his car does not do this, so that throws out your assumption.. (I can even let his clutch out faster and no bounce, but in my car it'll bounce under similar driving conditions)

shadykilla, i've never been on that forum. and yea you aren't reading my post right.. the revs do drop, it's just right after I engage the next gear the rpms jolt for a split second.. tach needle bounces, nothing to do with my transmission or engine speed..

Of course I can always shift slowly and release clutch slower and it won't bounce. The fact of the matter is some 350zs i've driven don't bounce under a quick engagement of the clutch to the next gear, or downshifting. Some do though.. so I don't know if this is considered normal because I've seen videos of tach needles bouncing too.. Frankly, I don't give a **** anymore and just going to tell the service advisor next time I go in for an oil change.

I thiiiink I know what your sayin now. I think I've noticed mine. After engaged there is a little bounce.. I wanna guess it has to do with the pressure you put on the throttle after you shift. But if not. Just remember not all 2 cars are the same. Some maybe be built a bit diff. But if alot of people you said have a similar issue and some don't. It's probly nothing to worry about. I mean unless its bouncing over 500 rpm.. But it's probly an thing in the tach itself. If it was mechanical towards the cars operation you would hear that extra rev. If you dooo. Then take it to nissan. It would be something with the drive by wire.

Sorta. It was worst when shifting, but it also happened when I was cruising down the street at a constant rpm and got on the gas quickly (never touching the clutch or shifter) to accelerate. The needle would bouce for maybe 500-1000+ rpms initially (sometimes even worse) and then after a couple oscillations, it'd settle down to the "correct" rpm and it'd continue moving up the rpms like normal, as I continued to accelerate. The rpms never shot up like the needle showed, it was just a bad tach.

Dont you guys think it might be from how the clutch engagement zone is little so if you dont take off your foot off the clutch just perfect and give it the perfect amount of gas then it'll bounce like that? That bouncing happens to me too but im not a very experienced stick driver so maybe its from that?? just a guess. My GF's bug is stick too but her clutch is very good so it'll engage even if you dont rev match but the rpm wont bounce neither will the car. Idk im confused lol

nah.. if you shift perfectly you don't even need the gas.. you can shift into the next gear and if you engage perfectly you shouldnt really feel a jolt.. anyway I drove my brothers 08Z and I can let the clutch out quickly in every gear and no jumps in tach.. I have the same problem as Justin@IOS im sure.. bad tach.

Like some people said, if you shift when youre completely off the gas you should be fine. I have an 04 trck and my clutch is very stiff and i test drove my teammates 08 and the clutch felt so light in a way. Due to its lightness, i think most people are stepping on the clutch and they do not completely let go of the gas all the way and its hard to notice cause the clutch is so light and soft. Try letting go of the gas for 2 seconds then switch gears. The more you get use to it, the more you can be acurate with youre clutch.

man
like I said, i test drove my car and the 08 BACK TO BACK, using the same technique.. of course if I drove my car alll softly it won't bounce, but the fact is on normal driving and spirited driving when I let the clutch out faster it bounces like a motherfugger. The 08 I drove doesn't bounce PERIOD, no matter HOW fast or roughly I let the clutch out.. get my point now? Or no? Your car = NO problem, my car = Problematic tach. BTW, I do shift without the gas. Did you read the entire thread? My car's tach also jumps when i'm IN 6th, OFF the clutch pedal, OFF the gas, and when I JUMP on the gas 1/2 throttle, the tach jumps (+ and - 500rpms) for a split second.. Now is this still my driving error?

My car does that too, but I don't care. It's definitely not driver error.

Also, my passenger window motor is making funny noises when I roll it up/down. I also noticed my tires show signs of feathering. My clutch also gets stuck on the floor when I make aggressive launches, and yes I had my slave cylinder replaced.

Quality kind of sucks on these cars.

It's an easy fix. Keep your eyes on the road.

heres a video for those of you to understand what i'm experiencing.. this isn't me, just a vid on youtube I found.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3r1pS-5jzM

Watch his second - third shift. I get that driving normally, unless I let the clutch out slower / softer, but that feels like i'm riding it for that short amount of time.. on the 08 Z I drove, I could slip my foot off the clutch almost and it'd just land right at the correct rpms..
