ok here's what I don't understand, Why design an "intake" that constricts airflow by having a closed off end? example:
If you look at the stock HR airbox design you see this...
a smooth, steady airflow straight to the filter.
versus all these aftermarket brands where the airflow seems constricted and hits a big piece of plastic
or see this...
forgive my $hitty drawings but hopefully it gets my point across
i just dont undertand.

i know what it is that you're thinking, but it doesn't matter...well, at the speeds that we drive. if we were constantly at 200 mph+ it would probably START to become into play. the fact is, the drawn in ambient air isn't moving past it fast enough to "hit" that plastic piece and cause a drop in performance. in the stock box the air is turbulent anyway so don't think that the flow is nice and laminar and carries into the intake manifold in a smooth fashion.
hell, look at NASCAR stock car cabuereted intakes, the air must go under the cowl, and under the air filter box. why not make it so that the top can suck air into the intake manifold? the car still makes over 750 hp.
i agree with the idea that the air filter/box assembly should be a straight-through design, but it's not going to change the performance of your air filter.

yes i really like them, they have a nice sound, especially around 3K they have this nice whistlem like the venturi design on the JWT, it sounds great, i also have an exhaust so thats probably why i dont hear it till then. definitely a power increase and throttle response
