Default Any 08 Transmission Issues?

Anyone with an 08 6mt that is experiencing a whining noise coming from the trans? A few guys here on base have 08 6mts that don't whine. I searched and found nothing with the 08. I have 6100 miles and have been wondering about this, and now It's a concern because I can't seem to find anyone else with an 08 and the whining noise, nor any info on it.

Not here. Got ~28K on my '08 6MT (I know - lots of miles - I love driving my car) and no trans issues. Hope whatever you got can be solved/fixed easy!

Only compliant with my 08 trans is the "clank" sound it makes when I shift. The mt on the Z is not its strong point. Still can't get the thing to shift smoothly. When I drive my buddy's RX8 the trans feels so good and shifts really nice.

Whining sound? I think i have that in first or second gear when I speed up to like 20mph then let go of gas (engine braking). Isn't this normal? The OEM flywheel/throwout bearing noise is more of a whirring sound when at neutral and standstill with clutch disengaged.

No issues here either. The only thing but I think its common, is 2nd gear is a bit hard to get into, and feels like I am grinding something sometimes, but other than that it has been fine.

Have you guys checked with your local dealer yet? If you have a good writer/tech combo they should be able to check out the car rather quickly and let you know if something isn't quite normal. If you don't trust them, maybe look into driving a new car demo and see how that compares to yours. Or meet up with another local Z owner?

Oh and if you think the transmissions are loud now, DO NOT get an aftermarket flywheel. You'll be hating life.

Yeah I took it to the dealer a couple weeks ago but they said its normal and that these transmissions get very loud as it breaks in.

My friend has an 06 with an aftermarket clutch/flywheel (forgot what brand) and it is VERY LOUD. Sounds like its about to break down. So ima try to stick with the stock clutch/flywheel until I really have to change it.

That sounds like a clutch throw-out bearing to me. I'm getting mine replaced on Friday under an extended warrantee. Unless it's just the flywheel and you're not used to it...
