I just got My 2008 HR350z about 2 weeks ago and have only 350 miles on it. I also experience this Clutch/ Flywheel rataling noise... Is this a regular problem with these trannys or is it something I should worry about? Im New the the VQ and have no knowlage of its prior problems/ history.

It's not normal, but there are enough people experiencing the problem for it to seem like it is. Go get it looked at.

From what the service manager said to me, it's the syncros. It didn't take long for them to fix the problem, probably about a 1-1.5 weeks for the trans to get to the dealer, then less then half a day for them to replace it. But thats from my experience to get it replaced

Its not so much the whining in worried about because the diff in these cars just does that. But the flywheel chatter.. No Bueno. Esspecially since it sounds like one of m friends with an aftermarket lightweight flywheel.

I have trouble getting into 1st, 2nd is ok, 3rd has a slight clunk to it, 4th grinds, 5th gear slightly, 6th gear very little. And some days all the shifting is perfectly smooth. sigh

hmm, this makes me think that my transmission is wacked as well just from the sounds. Whining sound in 1st/2nd, thought it was pretty normal since my bro's miata has some kinda whine to it as well. And also the strange sound in neutral. I guess i'll get it checked out as well.

I took it to my dealer and they said the whine was completely normal... They said they replaced one guys transmission because he wouldn't stop persisting, and the new one whined as well...

ok i have this prob also. I have a 08 touring with 500 miles on it and my boss has a 08 enthusiast 350 miles. I was starting to think i was hearing things but after reading this i went for a ride in my bosses 350z. His has no whine what so ever or any weird noises. Now in mine when i release the clutch i hear a bunch of noise and then its gone when i press it in. When i start to speed up in 1st and 2nd i hear a whine as if i had a supercharger lol. Its so loud that a can barely my exhaust lol. I only had this Z for 2 weeks i traded my 05 Z (which had no probs beside being a auto lol) in for this. I'm calling them first thing tomm.
