Well, it's f*cking freezing in Boston right now. So I had a VIP auto parts/service place quote me a price for the install. And it was $600....... 8 hours of labor to put in an exhaust. I laughed. Going to get a couple more quotes before I steal my friend's jack stands, because the ramps don't lift it up enough, and do it myself. Hopefully the other quotes will be reasonable. Because it is f*cking cold here. And none of my friends have garages that are "clean" enough to use.

8 hours of labor!? WTF? Someone is trying to have you put their kids through college!

He even said: "I'd love to hear of anyone that can do it in less time."

The catback with a proper lift and air tools can be done in 30 minutes! There can't be more that 12 bolts!

All this talk about installing HFC's is giving me the courage to attempt the install again! Maybe I can get it done before Thanksgiving dinner.

I could buy you a roundtrip plane ticket for you to come here and install it for cheaper than what I was quoted.

I noticed a lot of Zs tend to run rich, esp. with aftermarket exhausts. If you're planning on doing much more than exhaust such as headers and TPs, clutch and flywheel, etc..., you may want a professional to do it at one time. You may want to have the reflash to compensate for the mods as well. A good tuner can install this stuff at one time, put it on the dyno, and your mods will work more harmoniously when you you have it tuned correctly. I could've put my exhaust on. But i wasn't about to play with those cats. Eff that. My tuner has a degree in mech engineering, an in ground dyno, he came highly recommended. I met the guy first before committing. Visit the shop first and look for cleanliness and a sense of organization. Do thorough research before you pick a speed shop. You can find a friend for life if you're patient. I've learned my lesson the hard way and I hope you don't have to go through the same. Good luck.

As mentioned the cats are a pain, so if you're going to pay to have that done, you might as well have the exhaust installed at the same time.

Just do it yourself. Don't waste money on mechanics. Just find a friend to give you a hand.

I would NEVER pay someone to do something as simple as an exhaust install.

Check with your local car scene to see if people want to get together and help with an install. Look around on other forums too, car guys are car guys and love to have something to work on. I have also found that people who have nice tools love to use them even if its not on their own car... lending them out is another thing. I am sure you can find someone in your area with a great home garage that will help you out for a six pack of beer and a pizza.

I actually did. Messaged UsualSuspect, and he said he may be able to help me out. But didn't get back to me on a time. So I got it done like two/three weeks ago at some place near my house for $200. Exhaust and HFC's.

On a side note, I think I sent you a message about your stock intakes, and if you would sell them. Did you get anything like that?
