As italian joe stated I was looking at it from a mechanics point of view. As I was for 7 yrs before a recent career change, not just some pull out my *** guess. Crazy me I thought forums were about discussing.

Installing cams on the DE, REVUP and the HR are the same as far as procedures and labor time involve, there is no need to pull the engine, this can be done all in the car, I would not recommend this type of work to be done by somebody who is not familiar with the VQ platforms .

As far as labor charges , we charge 12 hours of labor to perform such task which will include adjusting the valve as needed. If we are installing upgraded valve spring we will charge an additional 4 hours of labor, Replacing valve spring with the heads on the block in the car is very tedious and time consuming job. Replacing valve springs is highly recommend if you are raising the rev limiter pass the factory setting. So to summarize the cost ....

Cams cost 1379
labor cost for cams only r&r 1308.(Our labor rate is 109 an hour)
New seals (timing covers o rings and valve covers and rtv)60
fluids (oil and coolant) 60

total job is about 2800 -2900 (without springs upgrade )

Add 436 labor for springs replacement
And 300 for parts (springs)

Ps.The info i'm providing is for a twin turbo car where there is more stuff to deal with, if you have a N/A car deduct two hours for the amount

Wait so are there two different sets of cams for the HR one for TT and one for NA? Or is it the same set-up for both?

If it is the same setup, how would it affect the performance dropping in the cams before doing the TT?

Of course you can order them without having them install it. I would do it as well but even shops out here quoted me 1800 for install which would put me back at $3000 so tahts why i didn't do it. But if you know someone or can do it yourself go for it

Has anyone found out if blank cams are available? They might be cheaper...If not im going to find a junk yard motor and take the cams out. My cam grinder is going to work with me on some custom specs. Looking around the 280 duration range. But of course my stroker kit wont be in for a month and a half and Uprev needs to hurry up! If not then GTM cams it is. I can see their shop from mine anyways.
