I want to power a relay but the power must only be on when the key is in the "on position" or the engine is running. That means the power should not be on when I have key in the accessories is selected on the key. Anyone know of how and where I can tap the power source in the engine bay to do this?

I want to power a relay in the engine bay. Does anyone know of a power source in the engine bay that only turns on when the car key is in the ON position.

Yeah its going to power a relay so nothing too demanding.

 

1. what you are looking for is called switched +12v source
2. you can tap into from the fuse box located next to the battery

 

use a test light till you find a fuses that does not light up with the key off.
