Default Dynoed Today

Hey guys.. took my car to get dynoed today now that I have HFC, Exhaust and CAI. The guy couldn't get an accurate RPM/torque reading and blamed my spark plugs.. the rpm's read fine until about 5500 RPM and then started jumping and went back on track, happened through out 4 dyno pulls on a dynojet. He said his wires were new so that couldn't be it. I also recall that people have had difficulty reading my RPMs accurately when dynoing ever since I bought the car from the factory. He told me to gap the stock spark plugs to .26 I believe. I read somewhere in the forum that you should never gap OEM spark plugs? What do you guys think?

Also, my a/f ratio is dead on the line (13) from around 3k-6k then it starts to dip, anything to do with spark plugs?

Well, anywayz.. here are the results, no print outs cuz the printer wasn't working.. Peak hp was 287. I can't recall the torque at this moment.

Can you elaborate on the mods, like brands? Are you running the HR engine? That's amazingly high for WHP if it's the DE. Wow!

Berk HFC, Borla Exhaust, Injen CAI and JWT Flywheel.

I'm just concerned about what the tuner told me that my spark plug are probably not giving enough spark because the gap is too big.. Is there a DIY on this forum for changing spark plugs? I'ma take a look..

It's an HR. I'm on sea level here in Florida, temp was like.. 80 degrees today and humidity around 50%. Hopefully I get the printouts in a few days.

Dayum! I didn't think the HR could respond so well to those mods. Congrats.

I don't know.. tried talking to the dyno guy but all he told me was to regap my sparkplugs and that's it... he's really anti N/A, really pro turbo and told me that tuning my car is a waste of money.

a waste on money to have 300whp N/A? thats crazy most older DE Zs made 330whp with a single turbo for over $5500. 287whp=Exhaust, CAI, and HFCs for $1950 I would say thats great

Your A/F mixture is lean if your on a factory tune. o.o My A/F mixture with the factory tune is 12.5-12.0 through the band and drops down to 11's at around 7k RPM's. 13 A/F is not bad since your N/A, but that's lean for a factory tune

What a/f do you think is best for n/a performance? The higher the number the leaner? or is it the opposite?

Yes, the higher the number the leaner it is. It is the air to fuel ratio. So, 11.5:1 means 11.5 parts of oxygen to 1 part fuel while 13.5:1 would be 13.5 parts oxygen to 1 part fuel. You generally want a leaner tune for N/A. I've spent so much time worrying about F/I cars, that I'm having trouble remembering, but I think most shoot for ~13.5:1 for an N/A car. Someone else may need to chime in on that.

That is nice power to see. I just ordered Berk HFC's, Injen CAI and Greddy Dual Ti-C exhaust to be put on. I hope to see that type of return.

Lol! Enjoy! Man I hope you got some sticky tires cuz if you're doing all this at once you're definitly gonna put a smirk on your face on your first test run!
