Default Maintenance on HRs?

So my 08 HR has 9,700 miles now and I changed my oil with Mobil 1 Synthetic twice already and I am planning on changing it for 3rd time this weekend. Besides, changing oil I haven't done any other maintenance on the car.

Do you guys recommend doing any other maintenance? I take my car to the dealership and I am sure they would charge me an arm and leg for anything. Also, do you guys do your own maintenance, take it to the dealership, or to some independent shop?

Motor wise.. no, I haven't done anything other than oil changes on my Z.. I've got nearly 28,000 miles on it so far, it's an 08'. I'm going by the service book.

I do recommend buying silcone lubricant and lubricate your window's weather stripping as mine is already breaking..

I remember receiving a "Scheduled Maintenance" book from the dealership which suggests bunch of maintenance every couple thousand miles and I haven't done any of those... I am sure that stealership charges a lot of money for it and I honestly can't afford to go there every couple thousand miles and paying them all that money.

Do I have to change any other oils / lubricants other than motor oil?

Got just under 17,000 on my 07 and I have done all scheduled maint. at the dealer. The first 2 were done at the Nissan Dealership in Germany. A little pricey, but not ridiculous. As the car gets older, the scheduled maint gets expensive, but right now its not too bad.

Diff and manual tranny fluid. I dunno how often. I guess I should check. Did you really not think to open your manual if this was bothering you?

If you ever change your tranny fluid, MAKE SURE IT IS OEM TRANSMISSION FLUID!!! I CANNOT EXPRESS THAT ENOUGH. DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC, USE THE SAME EXACT CRAP THE CAR COMES WITH.

I switched my tranny fluid at 16k miles, switched from oem (what the car came with) to a synthetic tranny fluid. oh my god worst mistake ever.

My 5th and 6 gear started grinding after a week.

I've read on another post that someone did the same thing, and gears started grinding as weel. Then he switched it back to oem fluid and it was better.

Do not use any other fluid then what the car came with!!!

lol what special maintenance is your dealer doing besides changing the oil? I know what nissan techs do they are lazy bums after what i saw..It sucks there are so many people out there getting ripped off by stealerships..

The only maintenance is basically the oil changes, no need to replace any tranny fluid or brake fluid until much later on. A visual inspection of the engine once in a while wouldn't hurt though..

I just clocked 20,000 on the odo today and my car runs like a champ..and the only thing I have been doing (all has been done myself) is the oil changes every 3-4,000 miles. I also check my air filters to make sure there are no leaves or other junk in them. I also check my tires to make sure they are wearing evenly and are properly inflated to 35psi..

Nothing really for 9700 miles. Download the manual for the other required maintenance, like 30k for the diff and transmission.

I took it to the dealer to change the tranny fluid, and they recommended some kind of synthetic tranny fluid. They said it's "better" and all this other crap. Oh man I wanna go back and smack all of them.

After replacing your tranny oil back to stock did the grinding go away? I have yet to change any transmission fluid in my car with 28k miles and my 6th gear has been grinding when ever I shift it sorta fast.. I mean, I don't dump it in, I just don't take 3 seconds to shift the damn thing!

I used redline and within 500 miles I had lost a synchronizer.

I since have had no issues (on OEM fluid).

My diff has redline fluid, but I am going to change it back to OEM soon.

I dont recall ever saying anything about "special" maintenance, just scheduled as per the recommended maintenance schedule in the book that came with the car. Sorry the techs in your area suck so bad. The guys in Germany were really good, and like I said the maintenance isnt expensive...yet.
