Default Clutch&Flywheel or 3.9 gears?? Help

OK so next week comes the time to finally get into some performance mods. I didnt wanna do it piece by piece but im getting impatient and ive got a couple grand saved so im def. getting my aam single exhaust, test pipes, and y-pipe next week. Now along with that i wanted to throw on the JWT clutch and flywheel since i was getting a tune that makes sense to do it at the same time. But now im pretty interested in these 3.9 gears. Ive heard nothing but good things about them. Besides losing some top end speed which is fine. Either way i go i will have the car tuned. So im here again looking for some help, what do you guys recommend?? Thanks!

i recommend the JWT flytwheel and clutch.. ihave a friend who has them and he said the power increase is very noticable.. also heard good things about the 3.9 gears.. but heard they cost alot to install.. a clutch and flywheel you can do by yourself if you know how to.. i wouldn't touch the gears though.. also i would wait till your current clutch goes bad before installing a new one.. :P good luck

I say get the clutch flywheel combo cause from what I hear when you do 3.9 gears with a aftermarket lsd to get the most out of it. And if your planning on going FI later you wouldn't want the gears anyway, but thats just what I hear from other Z guys I know.

umm most likely going with an aam tune. I had asked about a decent tune awhile ago. I liked the cobb tuner but im using test pipes and i would perfer one where i could go to the shop and have them do it all for me. And they seem to have alot of happy customers. I just started a new job and dont have much free time between the move and the job right now so they should work nicely. That is if they EVER get back to emailing me. lol thanks guys!

Call Dave at Function Tuned. AAM never returned any of my calls or emails. Check out the Uprev and Technosquare tuning options as well.

What part of MD are you in?

If you're using test pipes you need a tune already.
check with UPREV here on the forum for pro tuners in you area or have them to tune with the osiris and mail in reflash..
you're running LEAN... you'll damage the engine if you use it in that way.

I was over 14:1 with berk HFC and a 3" exhaust... you'll be over that.

you don't need an aftermarket LSD to run with either of the gear options

To the OP - the 4.08 is the one to get for the 07 + Z's - less costly than the 3.9 by a couple hundred, and it suits the HR engine absolutely flawlessly due to it's higher rev limiter

hmmm..Function Tuned.. Thats the place that did the first AWD 350Z correct? I had looked into Osiris not too long ago but didnt know exactly how much work would really go into tuning my car myself. And as far as technosquare i need my car pretty much daily so i cant very well send my ecu out to get tuned. AAM was fairly close by and thought they would work well but still yet to hear from them so im thinking maybe i need to go elsewhere. Oh and i just moved to the Pasadena/Glen Burnie area.

So on the HR 350Z your saying its better to go with the 4.08 gears? I havent done too much research on either of these gears so thanks for yet another variable in the situation.

your car, your money, do what you want to it. if you can not decide then don't do anything to it at all. pretty simple huh?

Yea, they did the AWD Z. I've only seen it in pictures though. Customer communication from tuners in this area SUCKS imo! Dave at least called me back a few days later and text me at midnight to let me know when I could pick up my car. I live 1 1/2 hours away so try finding a ride to Dulles at 12:30am to see if someone can drop you off in the morning I still haven't heard back about the paint that bubbled and peeled off from getting my fenders rolled. Other than that I'm pretty happy with the work he's done on my car. I'll prob give AAM a shot one these days since they have a few new guys there. Jeremy@altered is on here if you want to shoot him a PM. He might be able to help.

Yea i mean everyone talks fairly well of AAM. And by the looks of it, they are a great shop and only an hour away. I ended up calling them again today, figured maybe they were just really busy and havent got around to me yet, and he said he would call me back. We will see how this one goes. If not i'll have to PM Jeremy. Oh yea and btw your car looks great hopefully they will do something about that paint.

Anyone experience any grinding with the JWT fly? I'm down to 1 out of 20 starts and all it does is grind. It used to do it once every few months. Also SO F#$##@ loud I want to go back to stock. Sounds like a dump truck.
