Default Engine Mods?

So ive decided to do some work on my motor to increase some hp. I got an hks exhaust few months back and didn't really feel a noticeable gain in hp. I want to get new headers, hfc's, intake. I heard the hr doesn't require a plenum? Is this correct? Does that mean the hr does not require the intake manifold nor any kind of plenum spacer of the sort? So are the headers and intake the only kind of engine mod I can do to increase hp? Not looking to go F/I at all.

ok I found out that the Motordyne MREV2 + 5/16" spacer is the best for rev up engines. Is that all i can change? No other plenum change? Such as the upper and lower?

1. RevShift is working on an intake manifold but it hasn't been released yet. There is a thread somewhere but locked.
2. Headers are good, people get the Stillen ones.
3. HFCs, Intakes, and Exhaust will help you gain power but you should get a tune/reflash as well.

as for above ..

1. thread for intake is around but locked b/c it got off track from waiting to dang long

2. A.H got 10hp all across the powerband .. but he has all the other mods to support it .. probably should do intake and exhaust before headers

3. yep .. A.H. has exhaust, hfc's, headers, injen intake, and a tune .. he's up around 318hp at the wheels

If you have the HR there is not a plenum spacer.

so the only thing I can get to improve my engine is an intake manifold that has not even come out yet?

Ive been reading around and apparently an intake manifold or a spacer is useless/impossible for the hr, just like an intake. So I guess ill only be doing exhaust, hfc and a tune. Is that really all I can do to max hr without turbocharging? lol i feel sad.

They aren't useless, they do add power top end. It's a matter of personal preference though. If you think the stock intakes are good enough (which they are to some extent) then just keep them. If you're going to build a fully bolt-on z then you might want to change them, again your choice.

Searching FTW!!!!

I can't tell you how many times I've had to repeat myself although I don't mind but it's more convinient if people search. Oh and just for clarification I have test pipes, not HFC, but other that, you nailed the info

i put the stillen hf cats on my hr motor and they caused so many problems, i lost power and the didnt fit correctly also. i scrapped them and installed resonated test pipes from fast intentions. the sound is about the same as the hf cats and the quality and fitment are much better.
my stillen exhaust and hf cats were very poorly put together. the stillen headers were good quality though.

I have injen ses exhaust and dual injen intakes.

No tune just bolted on (sound performance dyno)

279 whp

on order turbo xs test pipes

NA bolt on mods is the way to go is you dont have enough money to do F/I the right way
