When in doubt...... Just Mod even more and put your mind at ease!

I sure as hell don't want to be beat by a V6 Camaro
3 weeks ago one was running 13.6-13.8 at 102ish most of the night.........I was in . I had no idea they were that quick.........the ss's are easily mid 12 cars on drag radials. The one that ran 12.85 against me had a pathetic 2.15 60'.

Where the thread takes you....

On a Camaro SS note, I test drove one yesterday. Love the external styling, back seats, 400 hp (auto), and the seats. Did not like the steering wheel, the gauge cluster, the internal styling nor the way it felt to drive (almost the same as my Charger). But I can see me getting beat at the track by one. They have grunt, even in the auto version.

Today I'll be taking a 2010 Shelby GT500 out for a drive.

As I've stated before, there is more then just the HP difference with the HR vs DE. But to be honest, for what it's worth, I would have settled for a DE. With some work they can come close to the performance numbers of an HR and have more FI options. Plus they look almost identicle to the average Joe.

Who is magazine racing? Seeing as how I only posted the results from the cars I saw at the track..........................where nearly (excluding brady) none of you ever take your all powerful HR's .

Here's the real question: Why do you care? This HR vs DE vs VQ37 **** is so old.

Too be honest..............I don't. The HR is a superior engine to the DE.......but singh was talking out of his *** and I wanted to point it out .

Did someone say track? Or were y'all mixing up a drag strip with a track again? If you have 10 minutes, take a ride around a track with me.

yup.. my second ever drag run

the slowness is because I suck not because the car does

a few of the veterans where telling me there's no reason i couldn't run 12's with decent tires and a reaction time that doesn't suck... my best R/T was almost half a second

BUT... that's the 1/4mile... i was speaking more towards actual track driving, the -600lbs makes much more of a difference in driving that requires handling, and if you're buying a z because you want to do drag runs you should probably re-evaluate

With that being said.........your parts weight thread has been informing.

R/T has nothing to do with your 1/4 mile time (though it can cost you a race).

Only one bolt-on DE and one bolt-on HR have gone 12's............the DE was probably lighter than your car. Search sfarrah to get an idea.

The weight definitely has a more significant role to play in road course (and drag too) .....What's wrong with wanting to drag a z33?

I have seen most of the vids you posted on youtube.......I enjoy them thoroughly. At this point I don't do hpde or open track days, but I would like too eventually.

haha thunderhill is the ****! I always mess up on the turn you see around 6:30 in the video. I come out of the blind corner aimed to hit the grass on the right side and I have to make some hairy corrections to avoid going off road going pretty fast! :O

Hey now, no need for the it was all in good fun! Some of the old school Z32 peeps have a hairy thing about what they call a "track", so I was simply busting some ballz.

Ah, the secret is to aim for the bright silver water tower. It's the first thing you see when you come over the hill. Then hold a gentle steering input towards the right, and the car will smoothly track in then track out. You can carry a lot of speed down the hill into the following left-hander.

The comment wasn't directed at you seeing as how you didn't say anything about a magazine.

This is a fun thread. I wanna play...

Here is a dyno from my stock 07 HR against my wife's modded 06 rev-up. The rev-up has the MREV2 Lower collector and 5/16ths spacer which raised the tq about 18 lb-ft in certain areas of the curve.

Look past the peak numbers that noobs get fixated on. Look at the area under the curve at the 6500RPM range - that's a 40hp/40tq difference.

lol at the poster who mentioned no plenum spacer available for the 07+. It does not need one and you can spend your $$ on something else. the radical slope of the 03-06 hoods limited space and the intake plenum was shaped to match so the two front cylinders don't get enough air withour a spacer.

Also the HR has dual knock sensors and hot return coolant from the engine is routed in a metal conduit OUTSIDE from back the engine block to the radiator versus the revup whose hot coolant return passage was inside the block - lame. The rev-up is also a ping monster even running premium fuel (I owned two and they both did it.

And the final of all HR vs DE comapros is:

Size: 117.5 KB

The oil dipstick is now front-and-center and fits into a tube that goes straight down to the oil pan. Yep, I can even find the hole in the dark. The oil dipstick in the DE is a royal PITA to use. go try one. it's hard to get the dipstick back into, and it also shares an oil return passage from the head to the oil pan so it takes about 10 mins for the oil to drain out of the head and down that passage so you can adequately check your oil without the entire dipstick gettin wet with oil all the way up.

The DE engine series was designed to be tranversely mounted in an engine bay for a FWD configuration vehicle which they had to rotate 90-degrees to fit in the Z/G for RWD. That's why the intake and oil dipsticks are whacked.

So why would Nissan put an all-new (well, 80% new) engine in the z for its last two years? So they did not have to take a hit on their HP/TQ ratings under the new SAE rating systems. Nissan's dirty little secret.
