Default Problem with 1st to 2nd.

When i take off in my HR from 1st to 2nd gear, it feels like my clutch stays in sometimes. It kinda feels like it is slipping maybe? I took it to nissan and they drove it around and said it was fine. But i know something is wrong with it. It really doesnt do this all the time, but sometimes its really bad. I cant even burn my tires goin from 1st to 2nd gear mostly. It hesitates too much before it picks back up, and even i will be in 2nd gear sometimes and my car will just rev until i take it out of gear and put back in. I know this might seem kinda confusing, but maybe somebody can help me? Ive thought bout just goin to nissan and buying a new oem clutch, but before i do i just want to make sure and see what yall think. my car has 28k on it and i bought it used at 24k, so i think the owner before me burnt the clutch up. but anyways, any help?

sounds like a burnt up clutch but it wouldn't start working after taking it out of gear then then back into gear. It would slip almost all the time and probably would slip in first gear if you gave it gas.

If you hammer the gas in first gear and the rpms go up but the tires don't spin then the clutch is slipping.

when the slave cylinder goes out the clutch is engaged and you can't disengage it. Pushing the pedal won't disengage the transmission from teh car so it will just keep driving. That or your pedal will go down and stay down due to loss of pressure.

Well you may have missed this:

NTB08-002
2007 NISSAN 350Z 6MT; VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER
Nissan has determined that on some 2007 350Z vehicles equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission, the clutch slave cylinder assembly may not have been manufactured properly. This could result in the operating force of the clutch pedal becoming light, and in some cases, could result in improper clutch operation. Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign to replace the clutch slave cylinder assembly with a new improved part
free of charge for parts or labor.

yea, i asked about that, he said this issue was with the ealier 07 350zs. mine was a later 07 and he said they fixed the problem before my car was made. so no recall on my csc, but im sure that this isnt the problem tho, my clutch doesnt feel lighter and it isnt sticking to the floor. but thx for the info.

just get an aftermarket clutch if you're going to be in there anyways.

Not sure I recommend this. I just bought a stock clutch from Kyle @ Import Parts Pro and it was the cheapest price I'd found.

Stock list is somewhere near $600, he was a fair bit less.

well, i was just looking at a good aftermarket clutch for n/a and mild FI is about 400$ so less expensive than OEM. If he plans on ever doing any mods to the car he might as well put a better clutch in. I made that mistake and ended up putting aftermarket in my car in less than 6 months.

I don't mean to sound jaded but I wouldn't have another aftermarket clutch in the 07+ Z's without a stock height/weight pressure plate (or the ats slave conversion). I had a jwt for ~16k miles and I can recommend neither the clutch or flywheel.

I'm not speaking from lack of experience, in heitant to recommend aftermarket clutches after losing 2 slaves 4k and 8k miles each....on the jwt setup.

hmm, true. He could use an aftermarket friction plate with stock pressure plate. No increased pressure then now slave cylinder failure.

I have a used clutch/pressure plate from a junkyard thats pretty rusty but still has some meat on the clutch.

You're welcome to it if you cover shipping (probably like $20). I didn't trust the pressure plate because of the rust, but it came with the flywheel I bought so...
