Default Headers with Xmas money?

Hey guys, dont post much but read alot. I am looking to get some performance mods after the holiday.
I have an 07 with stillen gen2 intakes, stillen true dual.
I am wondering about headers for the hr. I have heard that the hr motor already has shorty manifolds so aftermarket will not give gains... Any truth to this.
Anyone have headers and can give insight? Maybe a rep from stillen.
Any suggestions will help, thanks guys.
Dan

haha ^, I def. laughed at this.

I was thinking about the motordyne art pipes. I mean I dont have the means or testicular fortitude to go forced induction yet....
so I am looking for more supporting mods to do if I ever do. Or something in the meantime to satiate me like headers.

Why would you not put headers on the HR?

Cause they're already satisfactory. Get the Test Pipes or a tune. Or both. That you'll notice.

What happens if 5 members say yes and 5 say no? Then you are back to where you started.

So you're interested in "performance". So, how much better is your car performing now with the Stillen intakes & exhaust? Did you get better times at the drag strip? On the road course?

Well, my times argue strip are more related to my driving. Plus my tires are more than bald. I know the gen 2 intakes supposedly do not do much as far as gains. But if that were the case we would all stop tuning our cars. By performance I mean enhancements to driving my car. Not accessories or body kits.
I was simply looking for suggestions.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what you're F talking about, or what you want. So good luck finding it.....

just get test pipes. Best money you can spend on performance mod other than going fi. Headers for a z, or an hr will not do jack. Just search and you will see unless you go fi. I felt that after test pipes and a single exhaust, the car pulls so much better in the high rpms.

The headers will drop HP, but increase TQ. at least thats what it felt like.
HFC or TP with and 2.5in better flowing exhaust should be my route if it were me doing it again

Headers won't gain much, but it's all in what you're looking for. I installed the Tomei V-II headers and test pipes at the same time I installed the Tomei 264 cams on my HR. Gained roughly 27 peak horsepower overall and lost a little below 3,000 RPM. Everything above that was a steady increase in torque and hp up to red-line. Again, for a minimal gain and a decent chunk of change, it's all in what you're looking for.

Where did you tune the redline to? Just curious...

The art pipes are a nice addition, but if you are willing to spend the $ for headers and instillation, my suggestion would be the 4.08 gears.

He got it tuned at Real Power Motorsports located in the Pensacola/Gulf breeze in Florida. (they used to be located in Pensacola now in Gulf Breeze)

I suggest you get a tune shortly there after, I'm not the most knowledgeable (probably one of the least... ). So look into tuning software and a tune place near ya.

Hey Rubidium, I was referring to the tuning of the redline on a HR with cams. Depending on the cam, you may be forced to run slightly higher revs (if your engine can handle it) to take advantage of the new powerband.

+1! Wish I would have done this as my very first mod.
