There is already VQ37HR development... so far being used in racing and dominates when in the correct hands... would need to dial back the compression and cams... maybe use a JWT C1 cam and then use the shorter 3.7 rods and maybe even use a stock HR piston... I have not tried to see what the piston to deck height would be for using the short rods... the Grand Am cars use the Long rods from an HR (114mm)

awsome video Turn up the volume to 11... until the crash in the end

well I didnt plan to actualy do this but I guess Im gonna go with the HR head finally.

I blew my engine VQ37VHR a week ago and got denied warranty from Nissan. so I told the manager than I wont be putting the same engine in !

Ive been doing some research on this but like everybody else. I didnt see much true numbers other than what peopes are saying about AM Performance and another race team.

I had a spare HR engine when I had my 350z and I never really bothered to sell it. I guess im gonna use its head ! but im wondering if the HR and VHR block are exactly the same or not . ! in case the VHR block got damaged.
which was probably a bent valve .

How did you blow a new engine? where you racing it? I have heard of instances of oil consumption in the newer VHR's

I blew the engine at a Time Attack .
N/A power from 256whp up to 324whp same dyno about the same weather (temp) ...

revving up to 8000 rpm , the engine had 74 000 kms and maybe 3k on the track. The car is a 2009. I never had any problem with the oil consumption not even a 1/8 of a quart every 5000kms

there is a few options of why it blew .
-oil starvation (high G corner up to 1.35 G )
-bent valve
-broken chain.
more details later on this week

inexperience with a new Nissan dealership,
they went to fast in their procedure and didnt wait for me to un-mod the vehicule before they take the pictures. I couldnt tow it to my place !

its kind of hard to tell Nissan Canada that the car wasnt used for racing... with the complete interior was striped then a race seat in , a missing passenger seat , battery in the trunk .. long tube header/straight flow exhaust. custom intake stuff and eveyrthing ...

Nissan alteast only voided any warranty on the engine but no mention on anything else.

the previous dealership last year only asked me to put everything back stock on the intake side . for my blown 7AT .
but because of som issue I couldnt tow the car there in the first place but much closer to where I live.

the VHR and HR engine short block are similar... the HR head swap is more difficult than it seems. It is not a remove head and put on new head...
too bad they didn't warranty your engine
good luck on the swap

No upgraded oil pump or cooler? I think this was one of the problems with the VHR's with track testing, that and the akebono's

there isnt any upgraded oil pump for the VHR that I know of...
as for the oil cooler , I had a good setup but that was not the problem to make my engine to fail.

it all depends on what intake, what exhaust, what tune, etc etc. Care to specify?

I know not everyone know about engines and how they work... but why does people buy mix matched parts... I do alot of work with JWT and I know that they never do any testing with other aftermarket parts on the car... except maybe exhausts because JWT doesn't make exhausts (it is too easy to copy and rip off)

I'm going to be getting a hold of you for advice as I move forward in my build John, thank you for all the great info you've shared in this thread so far. After I'm done with cage and body work I'm going to start building on the engine, maybe another month or three.
