South Bend clutch/flywheel combo kit arrived!
Took 'er out this a.m. on my favorite desert road (right on the Utah/Arizona boarder) and put it through it's paces for the first time all out since install. I am very impressed with this SB setup! Clutch feels solid as a rock and I can tell no doubt that the new flywheel is allowing the engine to rev. quicker. The car feels like it has some of Walter White's "fuel" in the tank; my boost gauge responded faster and overall the car is very lively.
Only days after this install, I saw one of the car shows like horsepower tv or gearz and they were replacing a clutch on a truck; they showed close up the signs of clutch slippage on the old pressure plate, so I got my stocker out and I saw similar markings, etc. on it (over 40K mi.).
*So my point is that maybe I was getting even a tiny amount of slip since I went SC last year, on the stock clutch. Maybe now as I witnessed today I'm getting solid clamp force of clutch disk plate combined with the 10 lb. lighter flywheel. I hit it from low gears up to triple digits a few times and very solid and quick. I haven't launched it yet too hard, but no doubt I could light the rears up effortlessly.
So far this SB combo. kit is very impressive and I give a definite thumbs up!

I've never done a vid from inside, but could test out my little camera from inside cab to see if I can get good shot at gauges and hold it steady, then I can go out on the road and do something like that. I know many have done this, any suggestions on how to hold camera to show speedo/tach as I'm doing a pull? Don't know how some guys vid is so steady.
Well, did a little vid (not very good job) of a 2nd gear about 40 mph roll pull into 4th and shut 'er down. I went from a stop up to 40 then stomped on it. Sorry for poor quality was cloudy and dim light and camera made it harder to see tach for shifts, but anyway I thought I'd try to show that the new clutch/flywheel work just fine.
This one is about 58 mph, 3rd/4th gear pull to about 112; saw the digital read as I had throttle off and said "108"; you can see the speedo go over 110 and it would have been at 120 1 sec. later, the car pulls hard in the 80-130 range, normally I hit 3rd harder to higher speed ("stage fright" plus F'n camera); my brain was multi tasking haha! *hopefully you can see that the car would be decent in a roll street race!

Heard good things about SB's clutches and flywheels. They'd be my choice in the event I need a setup.
So far, the SC and 3.9 work well together? Where did you pick up the 3.9 from, if you don't mind me asking and being a bit off topic?
Thanks for posting the vids

Thanks, oh yeah the 3.9 was very nice while it was a modded NA, but with the sc kit it hits it hard so to speak. Most of the guys on this site with 3.9/4.08's say over and over how it puts you in the sweet spot of all gears; some disagree, but no doubt in my mind the car "livened up" from stock that I could feel and if on the street, roll race or just spirited driving, you will know what I and others are talking about. First gear is kind of out of the question however. I ordered mine from Vivid Racing (AZ), Central 20 had to ship from Japan and is top quality, plus I had all new oem bearings installed with the gear kit.

Good to hear some threads with positives on SB clutches. I've decided to go ahead with their stage 5 for the HR after reading a couple of these threads over time. I don't expect to push near 590TQ stage 5 limit on the setup once it comes back up as we got wonderful 91 in my area only. But also didn't want to really throw an extra $700 just for the OS Giken twin, seems a bit overkill for a setup in the 5's range.
Thanks for the info, hopefully I'll have a similar positive experience once the car's back on the road.

I haven't noticed any chatter at all. This combo kit has worked out very well so far and I would recommend it. I'm fine with the stg. 2, but if I were to do it over again I'd go stg. 3 since I'm mildly boosted (7-8 lbs.).

i am interested in the same kit also, did you have to trim any clutch reservoir lines ?
Also, i remember someone (with a Z speed kit) having their clutch fluid become dark in a few weeks for some reason. Everything look good so far ?

No trimming of res. lines on mine. The fluid looks brand new after over 2K miles.
