I unbolted the primary chain tensioner so I could get to a bolt and the timing jumped on bank one. Can I get the timing close so I could put it at tdc? I took a picture before it jumped.

Once I was faced with a bad head gasket on an overhead cam engine with a turbo. I got quotes and said, "Eff this" and did it in my garage after very extensive research. If you're on a budget research exactly what it will take to correct this (and not make it worse). If you estimate you can do it after you thoroughly understand it, go for it. Otherwise start saving for professional help.
