Default Hesitation while cruising question

Okay guys this is kinda weird, it started with the starter a couple of days ago. It sounded like it was grinding a bit but it still started. Now I have to crank it a few times when it's hot. It smells like fuel when I'm idling. And cruising. It hesitates throughout all the rev range. Less hesitation when I'm gassing it a little bit. It doesn't do it while cold. Only while hot. Oil pressure is stable, voltage is stable. Revs are not. No check engine light. Backfires a lot. It scares me a little bit cause I just replaced the oil gallery gaskets. The timing was correct when I put the timing cover back on. Please help guys what do I do?

But you did try pulling them, yes?

Not all fault codes throw a CEL.

Sounds like a misfire.

Well, without being able to put hands on, would suggest you just retrace all of your work steps the oil gallery gasket replacement. Would not surprise to find that it's simply a misplaced or cross wire mistake (like cylinder 4 & 6 coil connectors or somesuch.) It could also be a cam timing issue if/when you were messing with the cam tensioners, VVT, etc. given it's a multiple misfires code. (But that's misleading as I pulled a P0305 at one time then a week later it came back as a generic "P0300") Just carefully go back over everything, starting with the wiring harness to the coils. Good luck!

That's what it was man, I appreciate the help. I believe I wouldn't have checked the codes if it wasn't for you. Im glad i figured it out, i remember tightening those things down, its crazy how they came loose, i mustve only snugged them. But they are on there now! I hope this can help someone else like it helped me. This forum has helped me in a lot of ways. Thank you to all the members that help everyone out. You make the Z world go round❤

Glad it worked out for ya. Usually something simple when ya just did work on it. Trust me, I know about that.... laff. Might help to go back over everything and make sure everything's tight and in their right places just to make sure.
